Nadine Ferguson shivered, feeling an odd tingle go through her body, then it was gone. She then got back to reading the Bible, making sure to memorize the verse correctly. Her mother would be quizzing her, as usual.
She was reading the part about the burning bush that was used to talk to Moses, and she imagined what that would look like - a bush suddenly going up in flames. In her head, she could envision it clearly. Then she went back to reading.
What she didn't notice, though, was one of the bushes outside her window had suddenly caught fire, through spontaneous combustion. Without even realizing it, she had already inadvertently used her witchcraft powers. Of course, if she ever found out that she was using magic, she'd deny it, force herself to not use something devilish. But it didn't matter. Her power would grow regardless and she would lose herself within her changes, even eventually gladly accepting the opportunity of becoming a witch.
Karyn was inspecting her larger breasts and blond hair, and sighed. Why oh why did she have to make that careless wish?
Suddenly, a strange tingle ran through her body. What was that? Then it was gone as suddenly as it had happened. Shrugging her shoulders, she went back to inspecting her wished-up changes. She really wished the stone would allow her reverse changes. She really missed her short red hair.
Karyn didn't notice it, but strands of hair at the back of her head suddenly changed color, turning auburn. Without even realizing it, she was using her witchcraft powers to slowly change the color of her hair, turning it back to its original reddish color.
Sarah McMillan smirked at the boy who gave her a ride to the mall. She already had a power over people, mainly guys. Flash one smile, show a little cleavage, and a guy would do almost anything for her. Even give her a ride to the mall.
She stepped out of the car on her pink 4-inch heels, then strutted towards the mall entrance, shaking her hips sexily. But then something odd happened. She stumbled suddenly, almost losing her balance, but catching herself (nearly a lifetime walking in heels prepared her for the occasional trip-up). She felt a strange chilly tingle run through her body, which was strange, because it was fairly warm outside on this sunny spring day. But then, suddenly, the tingle was gone. She shook her head, then headed into the mall.
A woman nearby, who had a bunch of shopping bags in her hands, suddenly put all her bags down on the ground, then went to get the door for Sarah. Then a guy did the same inside, for the second pair of doors. Sarah didn't think anything of it, thinking that people were just giving her the respect that a girl like her deserved (or believed that she deserved). But what really happened was that she had inadvertently used her newly-acquired witchcraft powers to mind control the man and the woman to hold the door open for her.
Yuki Meshida was enjoying her time in the park. Really, though, it was her father. She didn't want to go home to him. He was a hard man. He loved her dearly, she was sure, but he made sure that she followed the rules of the house, which basically guided how she lived her life. Even the way she dressed. Her family was quite conservative, so she was as well. She got some ridicule for that at school, but she was too shy to do anything about it. It might have helped if she had some friends, but no, she was kind of a loner. She guessed that no one wanted to be friends with a too-shy, too-conservatively-dressed, foreign girl like her. Sometimes, she wondered if it might have been better that her family never came to America.
She sighed, then suddenly clenched her jaw as she felt a strange tingle run through her body. Then, suddenly, it was gone. What was that?
Sighing again, Yuki stood up on her flats and made her way out of the park, saddened by her life. On her way out, though, she failed to realize that the grass near the bench she had been sitting on had suddenly turned dead and brown. Without even intending to, she had used her new witchcraft powers to kill the plants around her, her depressed emotional state being the motivator.
Kyla Leeson was in the science lab, putting on some finishing touches on her science project, that was due later that week. She had put a lot of work into this. And she was sure that she would get an "A". Being a scientist was her dream and she was definitely smart enough to make it happen. Suddenly, her cellphone rang. Picking it up, she saw that it was Jay Duncan. Probably trying to get her to go to that get-together he was having this week. But Kyla wasn't interested. It was a "Harry Potter"-themed party and Kyla thought all that magic fantasy stuff was just stupid. Now a "Star Trek", "Star Wars", or BSG party? She'd be all for it. But "Harry Potter"? That was just dumb. It wasn't even realistic.
Suddenly, the geeky girl felt an odd tingle run through her body, then it was gone. "That was weird," she muttered. Then she went back to finishing up her project.
Her phone rang again, distracting her. She looked at it and saw that it was Jay again. She groaned. He probably wouldn't stop until she answered. So she picked it up and answered it. "Jay? Listen, I already told you I'm not interested in going to the party."
"Really? I thought you liked 'Star Trek'."
Kyla's eyebrow raised, she said "'Star Trek'? I thought you said it was going to be 'Harry Potter'-themed?"
"Oh, yeah. I mean, originally. But I thought a 'Star Trek'-themed party would be better. So, what do you say? Wanna come?"
"Sure," Kyla said, now interested. They said their goodbyes, then Kyla got back to finishing her project. Weird that Jay decided to change the theme of the party to something more to her liking, without her even asking first.
What she didn't know was that she had just used her new witchcraft powers to alter Jay's decision-making, through the phone, making him change the theme of his planned party to something she'd like.
