Athena hated Miss Fine, because damn it if she wasn't right, as Athena left she knew that she had to fix her eyebrows. She felt so called out, so stupid, how could she have missed this, had people been noticing the whole time. It wasn't in Athena's nature to feel so self conscious, but that's how she felt as she went to the store and bought supplies, like everyone was staring at her, so she went as fast as she could, hair dye, a smart water and an impluse buy of Spanx.
She ran home, locked herself in her room, ripped off the cheer outfit, then carefully laid it on the bed next to where she had causally tossed her gothic gown. The contrast of the two garmets was telling, as if laying on the bed next to each other was placing a snake next to a mouse.
She then set to work, first she tied her hair up and tucked it away in a plastic cap, to protect it, and she left some leave in dry shampoo too, just to make use of the time she had to have it up. Then she went to work dying her eyebrows the correct color.
She would have to do this in waves, dying, cleaning and dying again to get the proper effect.
As she waited she felt her body get stiff and started doing stretches to pass the time. It felt really good.
Suddenly a timer dinged....had she set it?
She took the cap off her head, her scalp was ichy.
Her hair flopped out of the cap, an inky black ooze had filled the cap.
"Oh shit!" Athena panicked. And immediately ran to wash out whatever was causing this from her hair. Her shower ran black with hair dye as it ran from her head as if it was water colors. She continued to curse in the shower as everything she tried seemed to fail. "Shit!" As she ran water on it.
"Shit!!" As she tried a conditioner with color retention, which as she read the bottle too late said "designed for blonde hair"
"Shit" as she worked her skin to get the black dye off her naturally pale skin with a soap that just seemed to muddle the black to a lighter shade of orange.
"Shit" as she frantically dried herself. Tieing her hair in a towel and pacing and panicking. She had ruined herself!!
Then, once the steam fog had cleared from her mirror and she could finally see the damage done, she let the towel free to reveal a gorgeous mane of soft blonde locks which now contrasted her dark eye brows, the effect of which was to make her blue eyes seem bluer and her face, which held a shocked expression, seem strikingly more itself than it had ever been. Her skin seemed to have dried a few shades darker with the effect of a spray tan which only exacerbated the effect of highlighting all of her features and her hair was now golden and soft and shiney. Her eyes were wide in shocked amazement, as she looked at her mistakes, and they would never shirk back down, giving her a doe like look to them.
She now looked like a bottle blond, not that this looked bad on her, there was a voice in her head that said this was better...still she let out one final curse, as the girl in the mirror joined her in mouthing the word:
"Shoot".
