Vincent Spellbinder, Shopkeeper of various magical wares wasn't sure how to explain this situation. He closed up his shop, and clamly made his way up the spiral staircase. It ended at the ceiling but he calmly strode threw it, going into some strange hidden space.
Up he climbed through the transnational space between multiple dimensions. Not even in one single world any more, as this place adhered to no basic law of physics beyond the staircase. It spiraled upwards and for a moment he paused to enjoy the view. Strange swirls of colours in a diamond filled sky. This was not a world of stars though, each point of light was a soul of life itself. A human, and even certain animals that were 'knowing' enough in their interaction with humans.
"Could humans ever know how much they shine," he wondered. It was one of those secret knowledges... there was no such thing as a dark soul, in even the worst human. They mixed and danced and... oh if only he could watch it for longer, but this place was not one to linger in. He continued to climb ever higher.
The staircase took him to a central plateu. A giant circle of stone, with odd doors positioned like a clock. A single column in the center had various diagrams... diagrams representing all the forms that life could take and have taken in the multiverse. "I wish to speak to the council. I am Vincent, from the world of Earth.. origin Dimension zero two seven zero zero one four one eight."
A bright light suddenly shone from the column as Vincent was whisked away. He looked tensely as he viewed the conucil members. One could never be sure which members would be there. It looked like this time he had been given three to talk to.
The first was a young harpy girl. She had lovely red feathers, matching her hair. Her wings were at her side. There were also elements of white feathers on her front giving her a bit of modesty.
The next was a slug girl. This one looked to have somewhat darker hair then the harpy, but a very similar face. Her lower body was composed of a banana slug. She also had antennas on the top of her forehead.
The third member of the council, was a fairy. She had pink hair, dressed in a rather lovely garb of white petals. The smallest of the three, she was not actually on a chair but sitting comfortably on the desk.
"I am honoured to meet with the council of Jons," Vincent bowed humbly. "Thank you for granting me audience. My world has shown the first symptoms of experiencing the transformation."
The council members glanced at each other before the harpy spoke leading the conversation. "Well, we have to let the Jon of that world do what he thinks is best, as we have done for all the dimensions. The changes usually cause some distress but evens out later on..."
The slug girl looked a bit annoyed. "My world wasn't exactly cool about it."
The fairy for some reason however looked to be rather excited. "Hey I want to know- so what's the cause for this dimension? A weird disease? Magical sunlight? Demonic magic? Angelic magic? Terrorists with transformation guns? Oh wait- aliens?!" The fairy-jon fluttered her wings excitedly much to her counterparts discomfort.
Vincent looked awkwardly. "I have attempted to discern from the signs but I can find no single cause... It's almost as if our reality cracked slightly. Hence why I felt the council needed to be informed. The changes seem to have a will-"
"That's not surprising. That has always been a theory in all the universes." Said Harpy-Jon.
".. a human will." whispered Vincent. "Even so.. a human will that does not have control either. So it's something I have never heard of before. I would like to ask your guidence... should we move the magic folk away while it gets settled?"
Slug-girl Jon shook her head. "Even if we don't know whats causing it, we can't interfere with a world unless its facing annihilation without intervention. Changes are not annihilation even if the cause is a human..."
The harpy-jon rubbed her chin with a single wing. "What about the jon from that world? Has he turned into anything yet? How is he involved?"
Vincent shook his head. "From what could dicern, the Jon of this world made a wish for something interesting to happen.. and it might have released the forces of the stone. It seems Jon is unaware though of the changes so far."
The fairy nodded. "Well let Jon-boy do what he does best, and see what it is then fix it up later. We don't always know the nature of the stone, but it's never been destructive."
"Maybe..." It was perhaps something to be watched Vincent thought. At least the council was aware of it and could jump in if things got really really bad..."I will go back to my shop and keep an eye on things... thank you."
"The council of Jons is always happy to help!" waved the fairy.
In the forest, Tiffany was still reeling over the fact that she had somehow.. created this... Belle.
Belle was a human- a human mouse. The strange thing is of course, she used to be a mouse yet her change has given her knowledge of human speech and a basic understanding of her new nature... even if she had powerful memories of her previous existence as well.
"you have to get past this river," said the mouse girl. "I got through it once by floating on some wood, but I don't think I can do that any more." She frowned a bit as she examined her new body. The dress was nice though. She always thought humans looked so snug in them, and now she had one too!
Tiffany looked at the situation, the large tail under her dress limp. How far were they from civilisation? "Well I guess we could swim " She did have some reservations- mainly wondering if she could actually swim in this body.
Michelle took a tentative hand into the water. Her new instincts completely disliked the very idea of swimming. She did not want to get wet!
"I'll go first I guess." Said Tiffany. She slowly went into the river. Her clothes getting wet as she did. Then she felt the tip of her tail get wet and- that was a weird sensation indeed. It wasn't as if she had such an appendage before, and it was just so big! It was a struggle to keep it close to her body as the current hit it quite strong forcing her to drag. Not to mention the occasional buffet to her chest.
"Woo!" Michelle giggled. "I think you're a shoe in for a swimsuit contest."
"Oh shut up! Yours are bigger." Tiffany growled- as best she could. Though being part squirrel it was hardly threatening. She pushed and thrust herself as best she could, learning how her new body worked. The tail could actually help her swim she realised, if she could just streamline herself with it. There was one surprising advantage to her new situation. Tiffany absolutely hated getting water inside her ears, but with her ears now at the top of her head.. that was not a problem at all. 'One small blessing' she mused. Finally she crawled to the other side of the river, lifting herself out of it on the incline. "So what are you waiting for? Don't tell me the fox can't take a little water..."
"I think she's mocking you mistress." said Belle.
Michelle blinked for a moment, before shaking her head. "You know what? Screw that.. I'm NOT going to get wet and look like some drowned rat."
.
"What's the matter Michelle? You really afraid of the water?" Tiffany did indeed look soaked and from the distance it was hardly dignified. Still at least she was closer to home then her friend and she did want to milk this one victory for a bit with all that's happened so far. Inspecting herself however made her grimace. "Oh- gross- I- I got wet fur smell," she muttered. Maybe Michelle did have a point.
"Is there another way around?" Demanded Michelle to the mouse-girl.
Belle looked at a loss on that. "Oh Hm well not unless you want to walk for a few hours. Though... you could you use magic? I would really like to see that mistress."
"Magic? Well... maybe." Michelle tried to sense her power. Unfortunately it was quite low from what she could guess in this odd magical sense... maybe if she parted the river? Just like- well- yeah... she grinned.
Calling on her power, she just had to make one tiny, very subtle change. It wasn't a huge amount of energy needed just a simple push. It did however tax her. One tiny pebble that rocked enough.. somewhere up the stream. Somewhere somewhere quite distant. She could sense it now. A tiny pebble, several miles away. That will do. She shook the ground with her astral body, a clear sounding stomp and- the pebble fell. It started to knock a large rock, and a large bolder. It started to fall into the river.
Michelle opened her eyes. The river was still there? Oh wait.. of course. It was several miles away. She just had to wait for the draining to catch up..
Tiffany rolled her eyes. Michelle didn't look to be doing anything but just stand there. "Come on, we need to get home." Then the water simply receded and drained away. The squirrel girl looked shocked as the riverbed became visible and Michelle started to calmly walk across the mud and caked area.
Belle was super excited at this. "You're really powerful Mistress!"
Tiffany slumped her shoulders still smelling like a wet-dog. "... could have done that sooner," she grumbled.
Michelle, proud as a fox-woman could be, walked unbidden by the water and fresh as anything. "I'm a freakin' goddess..." What to do with this power.. this magic... she could change the world... she just needed to see how she could, and in what way...
