"I'm sorry" Linda asked. "What did you say?"
"Your eldest son is a girl and Mikey's acting like Sarah McMillan" Gary repeated.
"But Karyn's always been a girl and Mikey's always dressed like that."
Now it was Gary's turn to be confused. So Linda had noticed that she had swapped with Roger but didn't seem to notice about her children. Something incredibly odd was going on here.
"So...you are saying no one other than you and your husband have been acting odd?"
"Wife," Linda said, automatically.
"What?"
Linda sighed. "Sorry...force of habit. It's as if it is the way I'm wired now...I know intellectually it isn't supposed to be this way...but it is how I feel."
"Sorry," Gary said. "Now...if your kids are also acting weird...one of them might know about this, right? So we can ask them."
"How? I kept trying and people kept acting like I was nuts." Linda said, frustrated.
"Good point. Guess we just have to bite the bullet."
"That's fine for you, but I don't want my wife putting me away, or leaving me with the kids...and yes I know how it sounds..." Linda said.
"So, I'll do it. I'll try to be subtle. Does Karyn have a boy...umm...girlfriend?"
"His name is Jon."
"And he wears dresses and such?"
"Actually, he's more of a tomboy," Linda said.
Gary frowned. "This is just too strange."
