When the movie was finally over, Sally entered the room and turned off the DVD player and the TV. "Time for bed, sweetie."
Sharon looked at her. It was way too early for bed. "Nuh-uh," she insisted.
Sally gave her a stern look. "No arguments this time, dear. It is bedtime."
Sharon returned the look.
"Sharon, dear...Mommy doesn't want to have to fight. So, just go to your room and go to bed...and we can discuss this in the morning. I'm taking you over to see your Aunt Roger. I have to go to work tomorrow."
Sharon clenched her fists. "No! I go to work."
Sally looked at her. "Oh, you do now..." she said, deciding to humor her. "Why don't you tell me about your work, sweetie?"
