They headed into the dining room and sat down in silence. They spent the entire meal trying to speak as little as possible while their parents chatted and laughed about the coincidence anecdote while their sister rolled her eyes. When they'd finished eating Jon slipped off his chair and said, "Hey Jon? Do you think you could help me with my homework?"
Mikey stared at him for a second, before catching the hint. "Oh, um, yeah, sure," he nodded, "We, uh better go up to yo-uh, my room so we don't get interrupted."
Jon smiled, "Thanks Jon."
Mikey got up and followed him out of the room and upstairs.
"Okay', said Mikey when they were up in Jon's room, "What's going on Jon?"
Jon sighed. "You remember when gramps died a few weeks back? Well, um, he left me a wishing stone." Mikey stared at him in shock. "I didn't believe it at first either," shrugged Jon, "But it does work. You saw that downstairs."
"So how did we get switched?" asked Mikey.
"Well, remember when we were joking about the coincidence with people in our classes? Well, um, remember I said 'I wish our classes would get swapped'? I, umm, I was holding the rock at the time..."
"So the magic switched us," nodded Mikey.
"Yeah," sighed Jon, "And now we're stuck like this."
"How?" Replied Mikey, "We can just wish us back."
"No we can't," winced Jon, "One of the rules is that wishes can't be unwished."
"What?" gasped Mikey, "But I don't know how to be a teenager."
"Well, that can be fixed with a wish," replied Jon, "But switching back is a no go." He paused and thought "actually there are a few fixes we can make, but considering we can't unwish things, it might be better off waiting a bit."
"How come?"
"I just remembered, my exact wording was for us to switch to see what things would be like...maybe after we've lived a day as each other or something we'll switch back because by then we'll have seen what it's like by then."
"I don't know," replied Mikey, skeptically.
"Look," said Jon, "We can wish things at any time, but if we hurry and this wish has an auto switch back, more wishes might mess things up. Like say we wish that you'd been the older brother and I was the little brother, then when the auto switch back occurs you'll get stuck being older. Same thing if we wish me older and you younger."
Mikey nodded slowly seeing what he meant. "But what if there's no time limit?"
