"I'm not laughing," Danny said, taking a few steps back. "Tom...what's wrong with you?"
Tom opened and closed his mouth, somewhat mechanically, but no sound came out. He then seemed to return to what he was doing...straightening up...as if Danny and Chris weren't there.
"This is freaky," Chris insisted. "I think we should call the police...or a doctor...or his parents."
"His parents are in New York till Monday," Danny said. "I...maybe we can reach him," Danny insisted.
"He barely seems aware we're here," Chris said.
"He stopped when we came in," Danny reminded him.
Tom continued to perform the same tasks, but, each time he turned so Chris and Danny could see his face, it looked less...real. Tom's mouth, which had opened and closed a few moments ago, looked to be painted on, without any ability to open or close. The eyes still moved, but did not blink.
"He's becoming some kind of giant mannequin," Chris insisted, backing away.
Danny didn't seem as freaked out as Chris. He seemed more determined to reach his friend. He moved closer to Tom, calling his name, trying to get his attention.
