Laura Ferguson drove back toward the center of town.The girl she picked up seemed only a bit younger than her daughter, but there was something about her that gave her the chills.
Laura was a rather devout woman, and she wondered what she might have taken into her car. "Do you go to Lake Point High School?" She asked.
"Yes," Amy said.
"Perhaps you know my daughter Nadine."
Amy looked at her. "Nadine...she's the uptight religious one, right? The one who is always in everyone else's business?"
"I'm sure you must be mistaken," Laura said. Laura didn't see her daughter that way..or herself, for that matter. They saw her as a nosy neighbor who wouldn't mind her own business. "Nadine is just enthusiastic about helping others."
"Stop the car," Amy said. Laura did, pulling over, unsure why, except for the firmness of the statement. "You are just like my parents. You believe whatever it is you want, no matter what anyone else thinks..."
The teen's eyes began to light up...literally. Laura didn't know this, but it was the same light that Amy had seen...that was now inside her.
