The woman looked confused. "What the hell are you talking about? Of course we have. It's me. Tom"
"Tom?" Danny asked, also confused. Tom was a guy's name. The person in front of the three boys was obviously a woman. Even her clothes were feminine.
But as far as Tom was concerned, there was nothing different about him. He was still wearing the same thing he was before and he was still definitely male. But it seemed that everyone else saw him as a woman, like an illusion. And it was all the fault of that fake ID.
All three boys were confused, and suddenly uncomfortable. They weren't sure if the sexy woman in front of them was sane, for one. But how often, crazy or not, did a sexy older woman carrying drinks even talk to a bunch of high school boys?
"What's the joke, Danny? This isn't funny."
"How do you know my name?"
"Because I'm your friend, genius. Tom...Tom Welles."
There was a blank look. "Who? Look, lady, you're pretty hot, but..."
Tom realized this wasn't a joke. He turned toward his other friends, but then he caught sight of his reflection in the glass of the store window...
