Sitha wished that he understood more about the supernatural and ghosts but they were not something talked about in the lizardfolk community. He had never heard of one of his people returning from the dead but if one had come back then surely it would be for a good reason. She seemed genuinely worried about something and he decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.
“I shall try to work with you,” Sitha told Emily.
Relief formed on Emily’s face, “Thank you. We can head out in the morning to collect what I left behind. The Order of Dromos is looking to make their master a god which will cause mass destruction the world and we have to put a stop to it. I have an ally nearby who is likely still alive but it is essential we get the gem that holds his essence so we can destroy it.”
“I assume it is not so simple as taking a large hammer to it,” Sitha could sense this was going to be a lot of trouble he had committed to being involved with this.
“His servants have ways of recapturing his essence available we have to either take it to a temple or perform a ritual to make sure he goes to the Hells where he belongs.”
The lizardfolk nodded before going to sleep for the night trying to process what he had learned and what he should do to keep this over with as soon as possible. Dealing with humans always seemed to create a lot more work than what was planned at the start. They failed to have the single-minded goals of the lizard but perhaps he could use this process to simplify things. Get the gem would be first and after that was accomplished you decided on the next task, why did humans have to make things so complex. It felt awkward going to sleep with these strange extensions on the body but he managed.
Emily didn’t like to have a companion in her body, well, it might not be her body but it felt like her body. It was tempting to try and throw the other spirit out the body so that she wouldn’t have any opposition but Sitha was very ground and attached to the world. She wouldn’t take the body permanently but having to go to a committee for decisions would make her job harder, still, it was better to not have him fight. At least with him in the body, she could wander through the world.
Using the body as an anchor she could explore the world as an astral spirit. The forces of Dromos might have detected she left her prison and would certainly come after her. It appeared many years had passed since her death and she hoped that with those years came to the end of the Order of Dromos. Without their master’s guidance, it might have fallen apart and this would be nothing but a short trip but that was too much to hope for.
Dromos had been born a demigod but he looked to join the pantheon of true celestial beings. He had formed a secret army through the enslavement of others mostly with magic but a few he seduced with offers of pleasure or power. He had started a ritual that was to rise him to the heavens but Emily and a group of others had managed to stop it. Hiding the gem container had taken most of her magical energy and prevent her from protecting herself but she was worried that someone had betrayed her.
Few people knew where she had gone, all of the group that survived had spread far and wide to hide who had the gem. She hadn’t originally been the one with it, Artus, their leader had it but he secretly met her and put it in her care as an extra safeguard. She had been slain without them ever questioning if she had the gem. This would require some investigation into who had survived and she wasn’t sure Sitha would be up for that.
