“Let’s go separate directions,” the Knight said. “I think we have had enough bloodshed for the day.”
Emily gave a slight nod but she kept her fire magic up until they were out of sight. She wiped the sweat from her brow, glad that the strain from keeping the magic up was over. The young woman moved quickly into the safety of the village in case the group decided to double back. She wasn’t sure if they really felt she was justified in killing the man or if they just didn’t want to fight her, either way, she was happy to have them gone.
Rustling Leaves was a small village with a large population of elves and humans living in harmony. It was known for the healing herbs and remedies and the people were friendly even to strangers. Emily went to the Golden Goose Inn, a luxury inn, and secured a room. It would be nice to have a warm bath and a soft bed again but the real reason she had splurged on the room with the lizardman’s money was the mirror. A giant lizardman looked at her angrily from the mirror at her and she could understand it, considering what she had done to his body, but she needed to finish her mission.
“I am sorry for what I have done to you but I have a mission I must complete,” Emily explained. “I shall return this body to you once my quest is done.”
“You have been dead for many years human,” Sitha growled. “Your mission is no longer of importance. This world is for the living not the dead. I suggest you return to the grave.”
“The danger still remains, it was why I was killed. I promise to give you a reward if you work with me but if you want to fight me I will fight back and both of us will be likely to lose.”
