He could try and tough out the injury but that was stupid when you are being chased. It would be better to find a location he could hide at while they chased him. He doubted they would find him because they had struck him as military trained soldiers and not tracks but they could very easily find someone to track for them. Finding a good tracker would take time and the longer they took the less people they would have to use against Sitha, as their leader was dead there would soon be many deserters.

The wound had been bound so there would be no blood trail as he moved to through the forest to his target. He did his best not leave a good trail but he cared more for speed so he could make it to the abandoned village before dawn. It had not been abandoned willingly as the scars of battle still showed after many years. He climbed up the back of a two story building hoping his claw marks looked like the wear of time or battle marks and crawled into an open window.

Floorboard creaked with his foot steps but they gave no signs of giving way to his weight. The stairway had been barricaded against intruders, and he casually wondered if the people had managed to survive the attack of orcs that had brought this village it’s end. Sleep was calling to him but he wanted to see what, if anything, the other rooms held.

A second room gave evidence that the people who had once been here didn’t survive as numerous skeletons and blood stains decorated the room. The windows had been destroyed indicating it had been a likely entry point for the orcs. The final room bore some scorch marks and the stench of magic from the combat long ago. Despite not liking magic he decided this was the best room to stay in as the other rooms had open window entrances.

He curled up in a corner hidden behind a desk and allowed slumber to take him. Thankfully lizard men healed much more quickly than humans, and he would be much better in the morning but he would want to stick around for several days to fully heal. The hunting was good around here but he would want to limit that to avoid creating an easy trail for people to follow. Sitha preferred to cook meat but that would be too risky with people likely following him. It was a waiting game to see if they found him, or if he had the time to heal.
