Back outside the school, Karyn listened as Nicole and the school faculty made their calls. Apparently, the authorities would be on their way to the town's water supply and treatment facility soon.
But Karyn wondered if it would be soon enough. For all she knew, the mad doctor and his bimbos were putting that insane plan into action even as they stood there.
And there wasn't anything Karyn, Nicole, Tiffany, Moose, Sarah, Chris, or anyone at the school could do about it. It was up to the authorities ... and Jon.
But Karyn couldn't tell anyone about the wishing stone. It was for the best that as few people knew about it as possible, even if it could save the day.
She just hoped Jon would make the right wish.
Jon rushed inside his house at rapid speed. There was no time to talk to his mother, or Zoe or Mikey or anyone. He rushed to his room, and opened the box where he'd stored the wishing stone.
After his careless wish for 'something interesting to happen', Jon had locked the stone inside a box, and then hid the key to the box between his mattress and box springs. He didn't want to risk any more careless wishes, so he locked the stone up until he needed it.
And now he did. The whole town needed it, even if no one except him or Karyn would ever know.
He took the wishing stone out of the box. He knew right away he had to make a very good wish. One that would stop Dr. Chance and his bimbos and save the town from the insane plan to place Bimbo Water in the town water supply.
And he also had to do it fast. There was no time to fuss over details. Best to go with the best wish that came to mind within the next few seconds.
