The school day came to an end. Jon and Karyn walked out of the building, talking of the rumors they had heard. All they knew for sure was that football practice that afternoon had been cancelled, but no one other than the jocks and the cheerleaders knew why.
"There's all sorts of rumors, though." Karyn said. "Some say Steve Farber and Randy Goodman have been kidnapped, others say they were arrested. Many have heard about the crazy Bimbo Water story Moose was telling, but most people don't believe it."
"Do you think Sarah and Biff believe it?" Jon asked. "I know I wouldn't."
"I don't know." Karyn said. "Last I saw them, they looked a bit more open to the idea."
"Maybe we can ask them." Jon said.
"Yeah, right." Karyn replied. "They don't even like to talk to us most of the time."
Jon took a look around the front school yard. He saw plenty of students leaving, but most of the jocks and the preps were nowhere in sight. He did, however, spot the tall leggy brunette Nicole Tiller speaking with cheerleader Tiffany Sanders.
"Sarah did WHAT?" Nicole was asking Tiffany as Jon and Karyn listened to eavesdrop.
"She joined Biff and his crew to find that guy's house. The mad scientist guy Moose was talking about." Tiffany said, a hint of unease in her voice. "Amber and Melissa went with her."
"I can't believe she did something that stupid." Nicole said. "Moose is just making stuff up to get attention, and he's leading them all on some wild goose chase that'll get them all thrown in jail!"
"So you don't believe the Bimbo Water story?" Jon blurted out.
"Why should I?" Nicole replied, turning to notice Jon and Karyn for the first time. "It's too ridiculous to be true. Not that it's any of your business. This was a private conversation."
"Sorry." Jon said.
"Why do you care anyway?" Nicole asked. "Since when have you been interested in what the jocks and the cheerleaders do?"
Karyn and Jon exchanged glances. "Uh..." Jon said. "We still wouldn't want them to get in trouble."
"At least, not that kind of trouble." Karyn said.
Biff Meadows and Sarah McMillan had assembled a sizeable group. Mike 'Moose' Matthews, the only person known to have escaped Dr. Jerry Chance without being changed by the Bimbo Water, was to be their guide. The rest of the group consisted of several jocks from the football team: Reggie Deckman, Tom Welles, Doug Townsend, Danny Foster, Ted Manley, and Chris Morgan. Amber Levine and Melissa Smith, two of Sarah's cheerleading friends, had also joined them.
Biff had made the rallying speech. "All right. We don't really know what's going on, but if some nutcase has done something to Steve and Randy, it's up to us to find them and put a stop to it. We'll get our friends back, or at the very least we'll kick that guy's ass."
"Couldn't we just call the cops?" Chris Morgan asked.
"Yeah." Amber said. "He kinda kidnapped them, you know."
Sarah spoke up. "We don't have any evidence. Once we get there, we'll find out whether or not Moose was telling the truth. If there really IS some mad scientist turning people into bimbos just for kicks, we might be able to catch him and find out what happened to Randy and Steve. Besides, Mike gave the address to Randy and Steve's parents, too, so the police might show up there anyway."
Indeed, Mike had, though he had not told them about the Bimbo Water. All he had said was that Randy and Steve had been kidnapped by crazy people.
"I'm with you." Tom Welles said.
Ted Manley nodded. "Randy's one of my best buddies. No way am I letting some freak do weird shit to him!"
The others nodded.
"All right. Let's go there and show him who's boss!" Biff declared.
And so the eleven of them marched through the town toward Dr. Jerry Chance's residence. All of them were marching with angry and grim expressions. Many of them were still skeptical about the Bimbo Water story (especially Chris, Melissa, Amber, and Tom) but all wanted to know the truth about the disappearance of their friends.
Like an army, they marched through the streets until they came to the street Dr. Chance's house was located. Soon, they would find the truth.
Mike was hoping this small army would be enough. Last he knew, Dr. Chance had only four bimbos, though that was last night. He knew, of course, to warn the others away from any water. He hoped they'd be able to stop the crazy man and convince him to make some sort of antidote ... if it were possible.
