While Jon was wondering what he had done, Sarah McMillan was quickly checking her email and Facebook, when she noticed an odd message from one of her friends. The message just said, "Watch it for the surprise at the end, don't blink!" followed by a tinyurl link.
Without thinking, Sarah clicked it. A new window popped up with a blue spiral lazily spinning and soft music in the background. A dopey spiral? Sarah thought, like that would do anything. Still, she felt relaxed and it had said watch it to the end. Sarah could give it a few moments. She kept watching, her eyes tracing the spiral while the soft music soothed her, calming her. Deeper and deeper she fell into the spiral, relaxed and open. Totally unprepared for the messages that started to appear on the screen. Messages that seeped into her brain.
"you are perfectly safe, safe to relax and drift away"
"..."šthink only what you read.. the words becoming your thoughts.. your mind blank to all else.."š"
"...watch the spiral..."šwatch it spin..."š"
Sarah's mouth opened, and a little drool dribbled out. She had to watch the spiral. Sink into it.
"the spiral will count down from 10 ..."šeach caress draining your human thoughts and instincts ..."šdraining them away someplace safe..."šleaving you blank..."šleaving you empty..."šleaving you open..."
""š10 ... the spiral softly brushes against your mind"š"
She felt something in her head, like a broom gently start to sweep. She would have been alarmed, if she didn't know that she was perfectly safe.
"9... draining away your will"š..." The brush came again, feeling a little like soft feathers. Sarah no longer felt the need to do anything.
"8... draining away your thoughts"š" Soft down caressed her emptying her mind of complex thoughts.
"7... draining away your emotions"
""š6... draining away your instincts"
""š5... irresistible"
""š4....so little left now"
""š3... leaving only white"
""š2... empty"š"
"1..."š1..."š1..."
Her eyes fixated on the screen. Unable to do much more then sit and drool, she watched and waited for the next instruction. A moment passed, and nothing happened other then the slow spin on the screen. The music changed, and a new message appeared.
