Whatever happened to them seemed to happen right after they bumped into Kyla Leeson (the head of the high school cheerleaders) and Jay Duncan (the star quarterback of the high school football team), so Sarah and Biff decided to follow them. Perhaps the two most popular people at their school had some idea of what happened. They, of course, couldn't just walk up to them and ask them, though. Kyla and Jay regarded Sarah and Biff in the lowest sense. Sarah and Biff were some of the nerdiest people at school, totally beneath the likes of Kyla and Jay. Little did they know that just a few minutes ago, it was the other way around.
So slowly and stealthily, the two "new" nerds followed the two "new" popular teens. They were far enough away that Kyla and Jay wouldn't be able to notice that they were following them, but close enough that they could overhear what they were saying.
