When Molly was interacting with other people, she discovered that it was like she was on autopilot, acting and talking just like Melony would. Maybe the same thing was happening to Melony...
Melony blinked. What just happened?
"Melony, what are you doing out of bed?" Mr. Stevens said, looking at her sternly. He suddenly seemed like a giant, even though he was the same size.
She felt suddenly nervous and intimidated under his gaze. She shifted from foot to foot, nervously. "I wanted a drink of water," she blurted out, uncertain of where the thought came from.
"I'll get it for you" he said, and Melony followed him to the kitchen, still confused.
He offered it to her and she drank it, following him back into the living room, where she spotted Molly, and nearly gasped. Molly was wearing her clothes...or what looked like exactly the outfit Melony had been wearing, only smaller, and carrying her bookbag.
She tried to ask Molly what was going on, but instead, unexpectedly said, "Good Night, Molly," in a perky voice.
She watched as Molly left the house. "Come on, Melony, it's time to go back to bed, like a good girl," her daddy said. "Do you want me to tuck you in?"
"No," she said. She looked longingly toward the door and hurried upstairs before her daddy could follow...Wait, did I just think of Mr. Stevens as Daddy?
She trudged into Molly's room and sat down on the bed. It was then she noticed...she was wearing Molly's pajamas. She didn't know what was going on, and she was starting to get scared.
