She hit the TALK button, then held it up to her ear. "Hello?" she asked, not noticing for the moment that her voice sounded a bit deeper, more mature.
"Molly, are you on your way home?" An older voice said.
Molly turned,and looked back toward her house. "Yes," she said.
"Good. You told the Stevens Thank you, right, dear?"
"Yes," she said again.
"I'll be waiting in the living room until you come home." The woman hung up.
She put the phone back in her pocket and looked back toward her house. "That wasn't Mrs. Stevens," she said to herself. Molly paused, confused again. She'd just thought of her mom as Mrs. Stevens.
She and Melony had switched places somehow. She had to test it. She reached into the bookbag slung over her shoulder...Melony's bookbag. She remembered Melony had worked on her homework most of the evening. She pulled out a notebook and opened it.
