It was the home of many people. One of them was Denise Brewster, head of Research and Development at McMillan Industries. She was an ambitious and intelligent businesswoman. She wasn't a scientist, but she had enough of a grasp of it to, despite her flaws, be very successful at getting results.

The fact she was attractive, knew it, and the CEO had an eye for the ladies didn't hurt either. The truth was, they were cut from the same cloth.

Richard McMillan was also, for all his flaws, a great businessman. McMillan was a small technology company, but in the grand scheme of things, it was not a big player on the national scene, although it was big locally.

Many well known companies contracted with McMillan. That was the brilliance of Richard McMillan. It wasn't the science that he'd built his business on. He, like Denise, knew enough to understand what he was being told...but he had people to do the science. His strength was deal-making.

Most of the company's work was contracting with other, often larger corporations. They also did some independent research...and Richard's corporate relationships often meant he knew what to do with a breakthrough once it was made in one of his labs.

The argument that Denise Brewster was cut from the same cloth as Richard McMillan was probably made more convincing by the fact that they were currently under the same cloth in her condo. Richard was having an affair with Denise.

On a positive note, if there ever is one in this type of circumstance...he did legitimately have feelings for her...not only was could she keep up with him, both in the business world and in the sack, but she looked good doing it.

Denise was not under any delusion that Richard would leave his wife for her. She did, however, hate Susan McMillan with a passion, thinking her a spoiled entitled bitch who had never had to work a day in her life...unless you called posing in a bathing suit work.

It was into this love nest the cloud drifted...the couple lying in bed together was completely unaware that their lives would be completely different when they woke...assuming either of them remembered what it had been like before.
