"How is this happening?" Mikey asked.
Linda looked up. She, or rather he, seemed a bit less out of now that the changes seemed to be over. "Magic?"
"Don't be silly, there's no such thing," Mikey said, quickly. "There has to be some rational explanation."
Linda looked at her intently, as if expecting Mikey to tell him what it was.
Mikey picked the clothes Linda had shed off the floor and laying them over a nearby chair, unsure of what to say.
"I'm scared," Linda said.
Me too. Mikey thought. "You're still my mom...right? Even though you don't look it?" He'd seemed rather out of it for a few moments there.
