They lapsed into silence again. It took a few moments before either of them said anything again.
"Zoe..." Linda started, then frowned. It felt wrong to call her Zoe, but she forced herself. "I'm not going to bed like nothing is happening. This is totally messed up."
Zoe, despite feeling just as confused about the situation as Linda, seemed the picture of calm on the outside. "And what do you suggest we do, Linda? Give me one good suggestion on what to do."
Linda found that infuriating. "We can call the police! We can call a doctor! We can..."
"I said we are gong to bed," Zoe said, more firmly. "Is that clear?"
"You can't tell me what to do! You're not my mother!"
Zoe's eyes narrowed. "If you insist on acting like a child, I'll treat you like one."
Linda shrank under Zoe's glare. "I hate you!" She said, storming off in a huff.
Zoe sighed, knowing she didn't mean it. She was just acting out. She paused for a second, reviewing the confrontation. It must have affected her mind. She needs me to take care of her. She thought.
Linda slammed the door to her bedroom and paused before realizing something. This house was completely unfamiliar to her and wasn't her house, and yet...She put that aside. Mom...Zoe...whatever...she's on a power trip. She thinks just because she looks old that she's in charge.
Neither realized that they were acting significantly different. They hadn't become different people, but Linda now how the maturity and emotions of a teenager and Zoe had the maturity of a middle-aged woman.
The next day was going to be an interesting one. And if this was not the familiar Madison home...what was going on there? And where were Jon and Mikey, for that matter?
