We decided since we were still new to this, I did not have much to loose, literally. I had only a few items, and of them, none were irreplaceable. We decided to not risk to much, so any important items and money, I handed to Suzie, so that when I fought, if I lost, I did not have much to loose.
We spent about a half hour watching some of the preliminary rounds to get a feel for what to expect. I was surprised by the overwhelming crowds in all sorts of races, and jobs. The nice thing is that with everyone at low levels, I was not that far out of the running.
After waiting for a while, I finally registered myself. I decided to have Suzie wait far away from me so that no one caught on to what we did. It was not illegal to hand your goods over to a teammate, but I did not want anyone to think I was trying to get an advantage.
After registering, I went into the waiting room, where I was presented the rules for the tournament. We were told, you could use whatever moves you knew, spells you had, and anything was fair, as long as it was not from a forbidden class. You could use whatever curative items you had on you, but you would not be able to buy any items during the fight. During breaks, which came after five rounds, you would be able to regenerate your health, and purchase low level curative items from the vendor in the training area. You could not buy new weapons or armor. You could keep fighting until you lost. At that time, you were out of the championship, and would be moved to a different competition depending on your placement. At the end of 25 rounds, you would be awarded some items, depending on your job. After each battle, you were allowed to take the money and one item off of the fallen opponent. You could not take their primary weapon or armor as they were going to still be fighting in another tournament.
The tournament overall was a rather long process, which made sense since some of the prizes that one might win where one of a kind items, known only as the Legendary Items. These Items were priceless, and could not be transferred for money to another player. The weapons and armors were rumored to be imbedded with rare abilities. There was also the rare chance that the item could be a book for a new class.
"You know, last year I hear one of the champions got the Ulitma Blade," an older looking human Wizard said to a nearby Elf.
"Wow, isn't that imbedded with the Spell Ultima, as well as a Ultimate Damage Limit Break?" the elf replied.
As I heard that, my mind began the cloud with thoughts of what special item I might win, that is until I heard my name called. That burst my bubble and brought me out of the dream world; I was going out there to fight. I knew in reality I could not die, but from what I heard, it was still painful if you took a lot of damage and were forced to respawn.
I had been calm up until this point, but there was no backing out now. It was time to prove myself, in front of the GODS and to get myself established.
