Jon sighed in relief as second period let out, and quickly headed for the gym. Those classes seemed to last forever. he thought. Hopefully the other me has the stone, and will leave it in my gym locker.

He reached the gym quickly, and saw a number of students filing into the locker rooms to prepare. He waited around the corner until he felt it would be safe to sneak into the locker room and scour his locker. After about six minutes, he decided that enough time had passed. He peaked around the corner, and was met with the sight of Mr. Campbell, one of the gym teachers, standing in the hallway.

Dammit, there's no way I can get in there with him out there.

"Hey, Zoe. You cutting class too?" Jon heard from behind him. He turned and saw a goth boy approaching him. He was wearing baggy, black cargo pants with a lot of chains hanging from them, a black shirt with some sort of intricate, blood red design on it that Jon couldn't quite make out, a pair of worn combat boots, and a ratty looking leather jacket. His hair was shaggy and had green highlights in it.

Jon recognized him as Trevor Blake. He had seen Zoe hanging out with him a few times, and he wondered sometimes if he and Zoe had something going on.

"Wanna sneak outside and have a smoke?" Trevor asked, patting one of the pockets of his jacket.

"Um, no, thanks." Jon said, looking back down the hallway and seeing that the teacher was still there.

Jon scowled and looked back at Trevor, an idea springing to mind. It was risky, and perhaps one of the worst things he could do, but he was beginning to get desperate. "Hey, Trevor, think you could do something for me really quickly?"

"What do you need?" Trevor asked.

"Well...my brother has something in his locker that actually belongs to me."

"He stole something of yours? Doesn't seem like him." Trevor said.

"No, I don't think he did it intentionally. I let him borrow it and he must have forgotten to give it back to me. I was gonna ask him for it before he went into gym, but I must have missed him."

"So, can't you just go in there and ask him for it now?"

"He said they were going to be doing stuff out in the field today, and you know how the gym teachers are about students being out there when they should be in class."

"Yeah, fuckin' hard ass jerks." Trevor said.

"So, keeping that in mind, it would be easier if I could just get it out of his locker myself. But, with Campbell right there, there's no chance of that. I was hoping you could run in and see if it's in his locker for me."

"Yeah, I guess I can do that. What is it?"

"It's a stone. Kinda shiny and red." Jon said. "Really smooth too, you'll know it when you see it." he added, taking out a small piece of paper and writing the combination to his locker on it. "Here, take this so you don't risk forgetting the combination."

Trevor took the paper and nodded. "Alright, be back in a second, I guess." Trevor said, rounding the corner. Jon could briefly overhear him saying he needed to get something out of his locker to Mr. Campbell, and then the door opening and closing.

Jon was holding his breath, waiting for Trevor to reappear. He knew this was stupid, but it was also the only option he had right now. Time seemed to tick by slowly, far more slowly than he had ever experienced. After what seemed like an eternity, he heard the door open, and the sound of Trevor approaching.
