The clock downstairs had just struck midnight, when it happened. The stone resting on Jon's dresser began to glow a brilliant white, when suddenly it flashed a bright yellow...
In the adjoining bedroom, Jon's sister Zoe was sound asleep when the yellow light suddenly hit her, and she vanished from the room. A few milliseconds later, her possessions began to vanish, piece by piece. The walls, which Zoe had painted black, reverted to a generic off-white.
The light flitted and flickered around the house before expanding outward to cover the whole town, before it faded.
In the morning, Jon woke at his usual time and took his shower, then knocked on Zoe's door to tell her it was her turn. She didn't answer, so he tried the doorknob. It opened, revealing...an empty room full of boxes.
No Zoe He looked around, hoping this had nothing to do with his wish. Maybe Zoe lived in the guest room now, or something. He tried it. No such luck.
He panicked suddenly, looking around. His eyes focused on the family photos on the wall. All the ones of Zoe were gone. All the ones with Zoe in them were the same...only, no Zoe. It was as if she'd been...erased.
He sank against the wall and took deep breaths. What have I done?
