Linda's younger sister was at this point in the den, which doubled as a guest room, having trouble sleeping as well.
She was a frequent guest, with her young daughter, Sally, at the Madisons, as she went through a rather trying divorce with Sally's father. She was trying to find a job and place to live locally, so she could be near Linda and her family, for support.
It was a very troubling time for her. She shivered suddenly, feeling cold. Then, unable to sleep, she went downstairs for some water, and ended up falling asleep curled on the couch.
Her daughter, Sally, was a rather sweet and perky little girl. She was staying in Mikey's room. Mikey had fled to sleepover at his friend Jimmy Maxwell's house until they left. Sally kept trying to get Mikey to play house or tea party or other little girl games with him.
Sally was deep into dreams about unicorns and rainbows when the tone of her dreams suddenly changed. Strange elements began to filter into her G rated dreams, which quickly turned PG-13.
