"Where have you been?" She said, worried. She was worried every time Zoe snuck out. But she was reasonably certain her daughter wasn't doing anything illegal, only irresponsible, but how could she be sure?
Zoe looked at her. "What are you doing out of bed?" She asked.
"I heard noises," she said. "I thought it might be a burglar."
Zoe raised a brow, looking a bit amused. "Do I look like a burglar?"
"No," Linda replied.
"Well then," she said. "Why don't you go back to bed? It's late."
A chill washed over Linda's body, causing her to involuntarily shiver. "I..." she trailed off, her train of thought derailed.
"You don't need me to tuck you in, do you?" Zoe said, still amused.
"No, I do not," Linda said, a bit of stubborness creeping into her voice. Linda turned around and headed toward her bedroom. Why am I letting her send me to bed? She suddenly wondered. She turned her head and looked back at Zoe watching her, and picked up her pace, the question of why vanishing from her mind.
