"Where have you been?" She said, worried. She was worried every time Zoe snuck out. But she was reasonably certain her daughter wasn't doing anything illegal, only irresponsible, but how could she be sure?
"None of your business," Zoe said. "Why aren't you in bed?"
A chill washed over Linda's body, causing her to involuntarily shiver. "I..." she trailed off, her train of thought derailed.
Zoe glared at her. "Go to bed now," she growled.
Linda turned around and headed toward her bedroom. Why am I letting her order me around? She suddenly wondered. She turned her head and looked back at Zoe sternly watching her walk away, and picked up her pace, suddenly afraid of Zoe's wrath and the question of why vanishing from her mind.
Zoe watched her vanish with a certain degree of satisfaction, and headed toward her own room to go to bed.
