Zoe turned to Jon. "Are you all right with this?"
Jon opened his mouth, and blurted out. "I...It's...fine."
Zoe and Linda both looked at him. He might be in unfamiliar territory, but this was reality to both of them.
Linda realized what was probably wrong...What had Jon's wish done? Everything seemed normal...but maybe that was the problem. "Mom...let me talk to Jon," she said. "I...it's a twin thing," she said. She was a much better liar.
Zoe seemed to pause. "I'll be right downstairs," she said. "I don't know what this is all about..." she seemed worried though.
As soon as Zoe left them alone, Linda grabbed Jon by the shoulders. "Tell me what you did," she demanded.
"I...everything around here has changed...except Mikey," Jon said, a bit flustered.
"Everything...including me?" Linda said. She knew Jon better than anyone. And she still could read his emotions like a book. She knew he was trying to keep things under control, but she didn't know what.
"Especially you," Jon insisted. "And...her," he said, gesturing toward the door. "I haven't seen her like that...it's like she's a completely different person." His mind was whirling...was it really Zoe with a different personality, or just the woman Zoe would someday be?
"What about me?"
He stumbled, not sure he should tell her. "You...you..." he stumbled. "I don't know this version of you...I changed both of you and who knows what else."
Linda stared at him, not sure what to do either. It was clearly troubling her brother...and her for that matter. What was she supposed to be like? She couldn't imagine anything different.
