Should Kyla have kissed Jay? Probably not, and she told him if he told anyone she did it Biff would find out. She didn't need to tell him any more than that, he knew that meant his own death. He almost didn't care, the hottest girl in school had just layed one on him, he was going to be grinning for a week. Kyla took a little extra pleasure in the grin, she didn't do it for him, she did it for her. She had always wanted to try that but neither of them had the courage do it, now she had nothing but confidence and nothing to lose, so why not?

She left the nerd herd, having done her good deed and had her fun and shocked the world yet again with not just her looks but also her ability and imagination at D&D, the nerds would be talking about it for weeks. Was it something she was likely to have done? No, but it worked for her.

Biff texted. Of course she said yes, kissing Jay was fine, but sort of like watching a movie you used to love but didn't hold up anymore. Biff was a blockbuster, and the second she saw him she fit herself right into his arms. Of course there was the kissing, but after that, she asked him...did he like playing games?

Sarah got home. she hadn't taken off the cheer outfit. She almost was afraid to, like if she were to take it off it would rob her of a feeling and she might never feel that way again. Then her mom saw her and the feeling left anyway.

"I'm just so...surprised, it's just not like you." Her mom protested, and she wasn't wrong.

"Well maybe it's what I want to be like!" would have been what the old Sarah said...but instead she said "Its fine, I just thought...maybe..." But her mom felt right in that moment. Doing flips and cheering with people she knew was one thing, and it felt impossibly uncomfortable even with those training wheels, but doing it for strangers, standing in front of a crowd, that was next level scary.

"I just...I want this" was the best Sarah could muster, so she said it again, clutching the embroidered letter on her chest. "I want this to be me.' She said it as if she was Cinderella wishing to go to the ball, something that no parent can resist, that look in a child's eyes when they are trying to become, there is only one response.

"How can I help?"
