"Long day. My feet are killing me. I'm just going to sit down for a bit before starting dinner."
"I hope you feel better," Karyn said, politely.
Linda nodded. Karyn was a nice and attractive young girl, but she dressed like she bought her clothes at a thrift store. She insisted on wearing that dirty looking jacket, and the equally ragged slacks.
And she clearly had no romantic interest in Jon, which was all right, but she did really hope her eldest son would find a nice girl. He did have friends other than Karyn, but the two spent more time together than not.
Karyn was starting to fidget. She'd tried to be polite to Jon's mom. She knew it was probably hard working all day and dealing with Jon and his siblings all night. But, she wasn't sure why the older woman was shifting around uncomfortably either. She certainly looked like she needed a break.
