Each smell seemed to have its own color, and there were colors never before experienced by a human all around him.
He could even see the smells that were no longer in the room. He started to follow one of the faint smells, curiously, heading toward the door. Just then, a new smell demanded his attention... Food.
Jon got excited and hurried back over to Sydney then back to the door and ran back to Sydney then the door again. Open the door.
"What is it?" She asked, confused. She'd been caught up in reading yet another book from the shelf. "Is there something wrong?"
She got up, and as soon as she opened the door, Jon headed for the stairs. Sydney followed Jon at a much more leisurely pace down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Sydney," Linda Madison said. "I was just going to call you. You've been up in your room all morning. It's almost ten and you haven't had breakfast. I was making you some eggs. I know its Saturday, but you should get out of the house and do something." She looked down. "Apparently Jon already knows that," she said, as Jon tried to signal Linda with his presence, brushing against her leg. He was starving.
"He knew before I did," Sydney said. "He must be starving."
Linda made a disapproving noise. Mikey took him for his walk, but didn't feed him?
Jon plopped down on this floor near the table and tilted his head to the side. "Sydney, I'll take care of your breakfast," Linda said. "Can you fill Jon's bowl and water dish?"
Sydney nodded, glad to help out.
Jon paused. Why had he become so excited over food? Especially the food he'd been getting? What... Sydney placed the full bowl in front of him on the floor and he began to devour it, putting the concern aside. Mmmm.
Sydney sat at the table as Linda brought her breakfast. "What were you doing up there anyway?"
"Just reading..."
"Mikey and Zoe went over to hang out with their friends. I have some errands to run, I'll drop you off somewhere. You shouldn't spend your Saturday indoors."
Sydney wondered where she should go. But she wanted to do as she was told, even if she was enjoying reading, she could always do that later.
"Just take Jon out to the backyard before we leave. He should get some fresh air too."
Sydney waited for Jon to finish eating. "Come on," she said, heading toward the back door. He followed her.
