"The bed is mine," Sydney said, claiming it for her own. "You sleep there," she said, firmly.
Jon blinked for a moment, and returned to his spot on the floor, the argument completely out of his mind. He closed his eyes and went back to sleep. There wasn't much else to do.
Jon's dreams weren't quite as thought-filled as Sydney's. As she had been using them to sort out her feelings, in Jon's dreams, he was simply reliving the day's events, much as she was, but without much analysis...it simply was.
When Sydney finally woke up, she moved quietly past Jon. She barely thought about her new arms and hind legs. The newness of them had completely worn off.
After a while, she realized she had no idea what to do now, so she woke up Jon and asked him.
What? He barked.
"What am I supposed to do?" She sounded different to him. Yesterday, she'd been so enthralled with everything, like a toddler. Now she sounded a bit more mature, like a seven or eight year old.
What do you mean?
"I...don't know," she said, somewhat innocently. "Things are different."
He wondered about telling her the truth, but decided against it. Do you wish they were back the way they were? He asked, hopefully.
"What way?" She asked.
He tried to figure out how to say it without telling her he was powerless to do anything about it, but she was. I mean, didn't you like it before...
"Yes...it was nice," she agreed. "This is nice too. It's much harder though."
You can go back any time, he tried.
"Thanks, Jon," she said, patting him affectionately. That made her feel better. No one would fault her if she failed to succeed, even Jon.
"Sydney!!" Zoe's voice said shrilly. "Can you take your shower already? I've been waiting my turn...if you aren't out soon, I'm going in before you." The Madison family had a strict shower policy that even Zoe went by.
Sydney reached for a robe. She remembered Jon always put one on before leaving the room. She put it on and opened the door. "You are going to wait until I'm done with the...shower," she said, firmly.
Zoe looked at her. "If you don't take your turn, I'm gonna tell Mom."
"I am going to take it," she insisted. "But when she isn't around, I am in charge. Don't forget that..."
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Yeah, whatever," she said, sarcastically.
Sydney headed to figure out...the shower...whatever that was, leaving Zoe looking at Jon. "You're lucky you don't have a sister," she muttered, and went back to her room.
Jon needed a plan. First, he needed to get the stone. It was useless to him right now, but...
