"Want me to come with then?" Linda asked.
"Let's eat first. I'm starving." She looked at the table. Four plates...For a moment, she couldn't remember who the other two belonged to...Then she blinked, and put the two plates away. They were the only ones here, weren't they?
Zoe ladled out the dinner onto two plates, and they both sat down. "So, how's school?"
Linda's mind whirled again. School? Her personal mental reality shifted. She was twenty four...and going to graduate from law school at the end of the school year. She looked over at her twin sister, Zoe. "Fine," she said.
"Just fine?" Zoe said. "Some of us have been working to support you."
Linda frowned, a bit annoyed. When was Zoe going to stop reminding her of that?
Zoe looked at her. "It's not like I'm going to stop you if you want to pay me back someday."
"Can't we just eat dinner without you bringing it up?" Linda said. "God...you're so hard to live with sometimes."
Zoe frowned. "I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to get on your nerves," she said. "You don't have to be so touchy though."
Linda sighed. "Fine. Forget it."
What both of them had forgotten was that they had not been alone in the house. What had happened to Jon and Mikey?
