Linda turned into the bathroom and reached for the aspirin. She slipped off her shoes and sat on the toilet and unscrewed the bottle, taking out an aspirin and downing it with a cup of water.
She thought about Zoe and Jon, suddenly having a flash of her twins. Yes, she decided. They were both sixteen. They were twins.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Not bad for a 34 year old. That new diet had worked wonders. She had some older stuff in the back of her closet, from when she was thinner.
I shouldn't be so hard on Zoe, she thought. After all, I wasn't much older than her when I got pregnant. Memories swirled around in her head, jumbling to fit...
She smoothed the loose dress and headed out of the bathroom. Jon was standing there, looking at her and frowning. "Something wrong?" She asked, sounding more relaxed than usual.
"Ummm...no. You look...good," he said.
"You sound so surprised," she said. "It's this new diet, more exercise...I feel great."
Jon continued to frown. He hoped this was what his wish did. His mom in better health wouldn't hurt anyone. He knew she worked hard, and raising three kids wasn't exactly good for her stress level. He might have made such a wish, if he wasn't so nervous about it going horribly wrong.
He forced a smile. "I'm going to go see Karyn for a few minutes."
"Be back in an hour, dear," she said.
He nodded and hurried off.
