Bianca, when she was still a guy named Biff, loved the sound and feeling of a powerful engine. That is, unless she was in the passenger seat of a old beater driven by the loser Jon Gibson. The loser that she had a undeniable and worrying attraction to. She wrapped her thin fingers around the handle above the seat, and the other hand gripping the seat itself.
"Jon, could you slow down?" She looked out the windows at the downtown stores and rowhouses race by. They all looked dilapidated, boarded up and seemingly empty. It worried Bianca, because this area of town should be full of shoppers and the bustle of people. While not devoid of life, it was certainly depopulated. And those who were around seemed to have the guards up and watched Bianca and Jon's car with a wary eye.
"Sorry, babe. We've got to get to Pixie."
"Don't call me babe," Bianca said, "and who's Pixie? And what the hell is actually going on? You never explained that earlier."
"Pixie is a codename. She's my sister, and she's in trouble. As for what's going on . . ." Jon said, taking a sharp turn and nearly sending Bianca flying from her seat, despite her deathgrip on the car and her seatbelt. ". . . it's complicated. What do you want me start with?"
"Why the hell am I a bimbo, for one?"
Jon smiled and Bianca's heart fluttered a little, while the Biff part of her mind threw up. "Bianca, you're not a bimbo. Actually, you're a doctor."
"What?" She was more than a little incredulous, until her mind filled with memories of college, med school, and a few years of residency. "Whoa. I'm actually a doctor."
"Body and brains," Jon said, putting has free hand on Bianca's legs, enjoying their nylon smoothness. She slapped his hand away, not ready to give in to her attractions or Jon's advances.
"Don't change the subject. What happened to turn me into a woman?"
Jon sighed, "A computer virus, as best we can tell. And it wasn't just you. Karyn, me, Zoe, Sarah. All kinds of people were changed. And its not stopping."
Bianca looked out the window, at the desolate streets and boarded up buildings. This would all take longer than two days to happen. And that story didn't explain why Jon knew so much about Bianca, and insisted they were a couple. He was hiding something.
She started to ask something more, but Jon jerked his car to a halt.
