Emily looked back at the mirror, paying close attention to her eyes. Her eyes were now green rather than brown, but they didn't look any more magical. As much as she didn't want to, she had to admit they looked better now, but she still didn't like that it was done to her without her consent. She sighed, knowing she couldn't do anything about it right now but she noticed there was now something more to the mirror.
It was almost invisible if she didn't pay attention but she could see a translucent aura around the mirror. She tried inspecting it in more detail, and its description appeared:
Magic mirror★☆: A mirror that gave you some kind of power but you can tell you haven't discovered its full potential yet.
Emily smiled genuinely for what seemed like the first time since she entered the game. For the first time, it felt like a game and not just a big plan to torture her. However, she was still wary of what it had given her. She opened her menu. There was now a subsection called abilities in the skill section, and in it, she found the description for her new magic eyes:
Magic eyes LV.1: Allow you to see the most obvious magic in the world around you.
Emily was pleasantly surprised. This was the first thing since she entered the game that felt like something she'd like. Then she realized the aura around the mirror was probably the magic she could now see. Meaning the magic eyes were probably a passive ability.
"Alright! Finally something interesting!" She shouted happily, but she soon realized couldn't do much with it for now. She looked up to the screen in the sky but still couldn't see Karyn. She didn't know how much time had passed, so she thought Karyn might still be doing her homework.
Emily looked toward the town in the distance. Waiting for Karyn wouldn't change the fact she had to walk there. "Might as well go now." She said to herself as she began walking down the dirt road.
Karyn's mind kept wandering back to Jon and the game, making her homework much longer than they needed to be. And so what would have usually been done in fifteen minutes ended up taking almost forty. "Finally!" She almost shouted when she eventually finished her homework. She didn't take the time to put them back in her backpack and immediately went to her computer.
To her surprise, she was greeted by two messages:
Emily has begun to accept her vagina as her own. FEM+1.
You have discovered a hidden aspect of an item! Emily has learned the ability: "Magic eyes".
"J... Emily!" Karyn called, making the girl walking inside the screen look up toward her.
"You're back!" She greeted her with a smile. "You must have had a lot of homework. You took at least half an hour."
Karyn was a little taken aback. She was expecting her friend to be somewhat sad or angry about her situation, but Emily looked like she wasn't bothered at all. "What happened? The game says you learned some ability and that..." She blushed a little" that you've accepted your vagina?"
Emily blushed a little too. "The game says that? I wouldn't say I've accepted it, but I'm more..." She hesitated, searching for the right word. "I don't try to ignore it anymore. I'm still not happy about it, but it's there until we can find a way to get me out of this game, so... I might as well get used to it."
Karyn simply nodded, not wanting to talk about this subject for too long: "And what about these magic eyes you got?"
The question made Emily smile. She took out the mirror and showed it to Karyn: "Look at that! Can you see some sort of aura around it?"
Karyn concentrated on the mirror that was a little small on her screen. "I can kinda see it, I think... It's a little far from me."
"Oh..." Emily said while lowering the mirror. "Well, look at its description, you'll see."
Karyn opened her menu and looked at it. "What are these stars?"
"I don't know." Emily shrugged. "I think it's to tell us it's magic or something. I was hoping you could ask the game. It doesn't do anything when I ask."
"Good idea! Game, Can you tell me what these stars mean?"
Their meaning has already been explained in a tutorial that you skipped
Karyn blinked, it almost looked like the game was holding a grudge. "Huh... Can you show it to me again? Please." Nothing happened for a few seconds, and Karyn began to worry it might not answer her but a window finally appeared.
Fine! But only because Emily was the one making you skip it. I'd punish her for it if I were you.
"J... Emily! I think the game is more sentient than we thought... Like with a personality and everything..." She said as the tutorial about the mirror she had skipped before appeared on the screen.
