"Mind your own fucking business," Zoe's voice said.
"Mom...Zoe cut in line again."
"Well, maybe I need more time," Zoe said, opening the door, dressed her bathrobe.
"I don't care how long it takes you, there's a schedule," he said. "If you don't like it, take it up with Mom."
The raised voice had attracted his mother. She looked annoyed herself, and was carrying something in her hand. "I found this book yesterday downtown," she said, letting them see the small leather bound book. "I didn't believe in the occult...but...."
She opened it up to a place she bookmarked and read it. Zoe and Jon found themselves unable to move. "The magic in this book really works," she said.
