Zoe moaned, her head throbbing. It felt like elephants had been pounding on her head.
She sat up, rubbing her head, and spotted her mother nearby. "Mom?" She called. Her mother didn't turn around.
She put a hand on her mother's shoulder, interrupting what she was doing. She turned. "Oh, you're up," she said.
"Mom, what's going on?"
Her mother looked around. "Mom?" she looked around. "Where? It's only the two of us in here." She seemed disoriented somehow.
"Are you all right?" Zoe asked her.
