After Jon grabbed the stone, he made a wish to see if he could change what was happening. But he couldn't, since wishes couldn't be reversed. And since the phenomenon was far-reaching, the stone wasn't able to affect it. He briefly wondered how all of this could be happening anyway, since the stone had a limited range, but his thoughts were cut short when he heard his mom yelling downstairs. Jon dropped the stone, then ran out of his bedroom to see what was happening.
When Jon came down the stairs, he saw his mom looking nearly white with fright. "Mom, what is it?" he asked.
"It's Mikey. He's outside," she said, pointing.
Jon turned and saw that the front door was open. And standing outside in the blue sunlight was his 10-year old brother Mikey. He was jumping up and down in excitement. This must have been a dream come true for him, being a huge comic book fan. But it was a living nightmare for his parents.
