After Jon grabbed the stone, he made a wish to see if he could change what was happening. But he couldn't, since wishes couldn't be reversed. And since the phenomenon was far-reaching, the stone wasn't able to affect it. He briefly wondered how all of this could be happening anyway, since the stone had a limited range, but his thoughts were cut short when he heard his mom yelling downstairs. Jon dropped the stone, then ran out of his bedroom to see what was happening.
"Zoe, don't go out there!" her mom yelled.
Jon's Goth sister turned around and glared at her. "And what if I do go out? Will you come outside and bring me back in?" Then she smiled. "It might be kind of nice to have a Goth mother."
Her mom just stood there, silent.
"Do as your mother says, Zoe," her dad said.
"No way. I can do whatever the fuck I want. And I don't think the light will even do anything to me anyway. I'm already a Goth."
"You don't know that for sure," her dad said.
"What's going on?" Jon asked, running down the stairs.
"Zoe's going outside," Mikey said.
"Zoe, I don't think that's ..." Jon started to say, but froze when he saw that she was already outside and in the black sunlight.
