"Exposure to the black light rays of the ultraviolet sun turns people into Goths," explained the reporter, who was safe inside a studio. "Our reporters have confirmed this through ... firsthand experience."
A blond reporter with a microphone appeared on the screen beneath the words "Earlier This Morning". She pointed up at the ultraviolet sun with her free hand. Her skin appeared to be violet, but that was because of the unusual light. Her fingers and then her hand and rest of her arm suddenly became pale and her fingernails turned black. Then her blond hair changed to brown, then to black, as her clothing morphed around her body. Soon, she was dressed in a fishnet shirt underneath a black leather corset, a black ripped skirt, fishnet stockings, and black knee-high buckled boots with three-inch stacks. On her face was black lipstick, black eyeliner, and several piercings in her ears, nose, and lip.
She looked down at the microphone in her hand, then up at the camera. Her lips curled in disgust, then she threw the microphone down. "Fuck this. I'm outta here." Then she walked away.
"What are we going to do?" asked Jon's father Mark. "We can't hide in here forever. We need food, among other things. There's enough in the refrigerator to last us ..." Mark looked at his wife questioningly.
"One day," stated Linda. "I was supposed to go shopping today! But if I leave, I'll ... change ..."
Jon ran up the stairs back to his bedroom. If the stone somehow changed the world, maybe it can change it back! he thought.
