Steven struggled being a plant girl, as the sun- for whatever reason, did not change her back. She fell into some depression for a few months even blaming her friend for having 'feelings' for her, as the reason she didn't change back... refusing to admit, that she had some feelings for Ben too.

Ben however, did get to change back... and this resulted in a lot of friction for them in their relationship. However Ben tried to help his friend and over time... Steven did find herself happier- though not in the pursuit of relationships... it was discovering the arts of gardening and learning about plants and herbs that made her more interested in her own transformation, and finding her own way in life.

Steven turned out to be quite skilled in working out what troubled various crops, and offering insightful quick solutions that would help to feed the world. For certain transformed that had specific dietary requirements, she also became a new strong voice in the agricultural industry.

After several more years, Steven was fairly well adjusted and took a certain pride in her work... she had a new calling in life, and while she wouldn't have asked for it... in a way, she was glad to be doing something so interesting.

the plants that were almost like children to her, didn't object either.

The mermaid, Rita, did not change back either. In a way she was the most difficult one to try and help, refusing to accept her transformation for many months, especially due to the way she had been treated by Jeff. She became the first 'customer' of the magic circle, and even though Jon was initially very reluctant, given how she had affected the entire world with magic... she gave permission for Lilly to try and find a way to help Rita.

The magic circle, comprised mainly of Jon, Brittany, Lilly, Becca, and Jenny worked up a spell to enchant a special amulet. It was the first magical object ever created in this new age.. The amulet was given to Rita, and turned her human.... but only as long as water did not touch her.

The amulet allowed Rita to live amongst humans again. However the amulet 'did' seem to attract water to her more often then natural chance would imply. Lilly explained this could be a natural consequence of a magical item of this nature. Still Rita was happy with it, even if she felt compelled to return to the water when she had to lay her clutch of eggs.

Rita was happy, and her transformation gave the magic circle great experience...

Lilly continued to learn under Jon the arts of magic. Often she would wonder where Jon learned her own magic, intrigued by where her magic books came from and insights. Jon had a curious ability to know magic so much more intimately that the young girl struggled to match... yet even so, the squirrel-girl did a knack for using simple magic very effectively, even coming up with a few new spells of her own.

Though Lilly did not realise it, this was not really the end of her journey, but the beginning. Her story was far from over, and would be far different due to Jon's original wish for something interesting to happen. She was now a protector of the secret of the magic girls... there was a new world to explore, a new life to live... and one filled with magic. Her story would take her to the ends of existence, of reality, imagination and fantasy... and all the way back. She would learn the origin of the Numbers, the worlds that exist as part of Earth's native existence... she would be taken to the edge of despair, and gain the wisdom that comes with such experiences as she grew into a young woman. She would always stay strong to her vow, even as she became older... to serve with her magic, never to abuse it... and became an inspiration for those who would wish to follow the path of magic themselves.

... she would help those in need, protect Jon, help Jenny when the time comes... and... eventually, admit to her at the very end, her darkest secret... that she knew who her friend used to be and kept it from her, her entire life. The revelation would test their friendship to the brink...

... but in the end, they always remained friends.
