Word processors tend to do some weird formatting, and the site likes plain text.
This is what I tend to do:
Use notepad for your first draft. This is always in unformatted text.
Remove word-wrap.
Copy and paste into a word processor, then do your second draft. (assuming you want to revise it.)
Change the format into pre-formatted text, and possibly replace any apostrophes. I actually tend to have the unformatted apostrophe in my clipboard when doing the second draft to save this step.
Paste it back into the site, and there you go.
