"Wait..." - Said Haru - "My third eye... Lilly..."
"What, Lady Haru?" - Asked Brittany.
"She was the one that protected my eye... With that same stick... Why didn't I remember?" - Said Haru.
"Even beneficial spells, when cast too close to someone's brain, sometimes cause a bit of memory loss. It's harmless." - Said Brittany.
"Jon..." - Said Haru - "Lilly actually helped me... She warded my eye from the Enemy! With... With that very stick..."
Jon looked at Lilly. Lilly blushed.
"I jus' wanted ta help... I... This stick let me do magic..."
Jon tought back to how Lilly reacted to the fact that she was giving back the stick. And to how she herself felt when she did magic. The power to alter reality... This very talk they were having, that is, before Lucas barged in, about teaching children that seemed noble and suitable.
"Lilly... We are still working on how to deal with magic..." - She said, carefully - "But you proved quite worthy of it..." - Jon looked at Brittany, who nodded. - "Maybe we could teach you? I myself know little, but Brittany here knows a lot."
"R-really???" - Asked Lilly, beaming.
"Well, we would have to check with your parents and so on..." - Said Karyn - "And you would have to come here, I suppose, as Brittany cannot leave the school."
Brittany nodded.
"I hope that is not a problem?"
"Nuh-uh. Why can't you leave the school, though? You are a wizard an' everythin'!" - Said Lilly.
"I am a soul, bound to this place, child." - Said Brittany, gently - "I have a lot of knowledge, but I cannot use it to unbind me from here."
"Bound? Like, you cannot leave?" - Asked Lilly. As a child, she couldn't really fathom a more boring situation than being forever bound to a school. Plus this girl was gonna be her magic teacher! She had to help her!
"Uhm, can I have a pen and some paper, please?"
Tim blinked and handed Lilly his pen and some paper he had.
Lilly began writing the number 8 several times, connected one to another, like chains. She placed the paper on a bemused Brittany's intangible feet and pulled her "wand".
"Split in two..." - Said Lilly.
The paper glowed a bit, all numbers 8 becoming 4, the "chain" undone. Brittany herself glowed a bit and then gasped. She walked into a nearby wall that would get her just outside the school and then walked back.
"I can leave..." - She said, in awe.
Lilly smiled lightly, even as she looked at her slightly-more-diminished wand.
"She is SO our first apprentice..." - Said Karyn, smiling lightly.
"Hey, folks!" - Said Lucas, opening a small rift and once again barging in only from the chest up - "Listen, I was told of the 'teaching magic' thing, I got this great candidate, she's this squirrel girl that..." - She looked at Lilly - "Oh."
"Uhm, yes. We're aware." - Said Jon, smiling lightly - "She seems to have potential... I even sorta made her wand..."
"Oh, so you made it? Girl, she did awesome things with it! Wait. You made her wand. Do I get to call you Garrick Ollivander now?" - Asked Lucas, smiling.
"Uhm..." - Said Jon.
"Wand-maker, Harry Potter..." - Said Karyn, sorta-helpfully.
"Yeah. Anyways, I..." - Lucas suddenly looked at something "behind" the rift - "Uh-oh. Okay, folks, gotta run, idiot millionaire finally created the problem!"
With that, the rift closed, leaving the group, minus Lilly, to figure Lucas was heading to the 14th Street...
