Adam flew back to her house. She was finally getting the hang of all this, but the recent experience has eased her own burden. The young Harpy had no idea that it was another, who had caused all these changes. Adam was thinking it was her own responsibility to fix the situation as she was the only one with an artefact that potentially could. Or so she had thought.
She used her talons to unlock the door, with some fumbling. It took longer to do, but she had arranged her keys on larger and solid rings now so that they didn't move around. This made them a lot easier to work with, though harder to store.
She sat on the sofa, relaxing for a moment.
It was a relief, to know of the other elements- and Jon... poor Jon, was the one responsible. Her Earth-stone was the only power that could well and truly fix things. Still, she she hoped she could use her Air-Element to help too, though she had no idea how. Of all the core elements, hers seemed the most useless. Perhaps it was best, to just lock up the Element in a safe, and forget about ever using it. How could she contemplate removing someone from the world they knew, just to fulfil their wish? What kind of a person would willingly desire such a thing?
Even if she sent them to a world that was identical in every way to this world... it wouldn't be this world. They would be gone...
She took the element carefully, and went to the attic. She saw a chest with all her grandmother's possessions, and placed the element in there. The air bubble seemed to glow ever so softly. She frowned a little, glancing down at her white feathery body as she then closed the lid with a strong slap of her wings.
"Grandmother, what did you use this for? Did you ever use it?" She knew her grandmother... she would never have used it unless there was a safe way to do so. She was the kindest, gentlest soul in the world. Why would she give this to her? Why not dump it in the bottom of the ocean? She was sure she would have given instructions, but... they have not turned up. Did she want her to lock it away? But then... if someone found it... good God, what a horrible thing it could do. No, she had to keep it. To protect it, forever.
"There must be a note somewhere," She thought. But... she was too tired to look for it. She needed to sleep. She carefully returned to her room, to go to sleep.
Another question brought to her... would she change back when Jon made her wish?
Jeff had arrived at the mall but decided to take a quick detour to the bank, Many people there were quite surprised to see a human standing in line. At the moment there were a lot of changed people- a sign that sunrise was imminent. As soon as the changed saw him, they immediately let him go to the front. It was a courtesy that completely surprised Jeff. Didn't the changed want more changed around? Well, whatever...
"I need to withdraw some money from my account," said Jeff. It was more then he would be allowed from an ATM... His father gave him quite a large allowance but he was breaking one of his father's rules here. He was not supposed to take large money out as cash... not more then $25 a week. His father wanted to know always exactly what he spent money on. If he knew he was going to give it all to the mermaid, he would throw a fit... but he didn't care.
He pocketed the cash, about $3000.
He then went to the store, to get the clothes. Unfortunately, clothing stores had become... exceptionally complicated of late with all the different bodies and it made him dizzy. "I'm just after some basic clothing!" He said annoyed in the end.
Finally, he found a set of bikini's he hoped would fit Wanda. He couldn't remember the size exactly, but he remembered it was ten he... destroyed. He regretted the incident now. He was just so mad, so angry... but... what exactly had his anger done for him?
'What's the point? You should have left this to tomorrow. You're taking an unnecessary risk.' He didn't doubt it. It was... probably very stupid. If he got hit by the sunlight, it would be his own fault. Still with his car, he should get home in reasonably good time.
He paused for a moment again. He... had that weird feeling. His hair was standing on end, as he felt... Like... he was being watched? He glanced around, but the feeling had passed. He frowned a little, as got back to the car park. As he approached the car, he got that feeling again. There was no sound, nothing to see...
Suddenly, he felt... something hit him. He felt pain, and realised he was staring up with his back on the ground. He felt a hand in his pocket... he tried to move, but he was dazed and confused. He felt a little cold... a small taste of blood.
He was acutely aware of the sound of his engine, and for a moment he wondered if he was day dreaming that he was driving. Did he drink and drive? No, he would never do that.
Finally he came to his senses. He didn't know for how long, but his heart skipped a beat as he realised... his car was stolen. His cash was also gone... though whoever attacked him, left his shopping for the mermaid. He rubbed his head inspecting himself for any damage. Fortunately, whoever attacked him just knocked him with something hard. Not a knife, or anything like that. He counted his blessings on that, but now he was in real trouble.
He had to get back home....
