Well, as someone who has bounced a lot of ideas on the matter with doclock, basically the facts are these.
Fiction Branches was designed in such a way that did create problems, due to its use of a flat-file database system. Some of the changes doclock have would allow a new site to run with significantly less overhead.
The site doesn't need to be fancy. Making it so doesn't serve its purpose. Less overhead and more efficient operation isn't very exciting though, so you add in a few useful additions...
- Mobile-responsive, so it will more easily resize itself to smaller screens.
- No more 1-10 rating system. For one, it is easily gamed(as we've seen), and second, it is not helpful. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather have comments. There are cons to comments as well though. Nothing is perfect.
