Lucas experimented in the Room of Fate, using the strange sword she had squired in her transformation. She found that this room was very susceptible, to interpretation. Balance was always maintained, no matter what she did. It was perhaps fortunate, and was clearly the result of aeons of work... in some way it was humbling to see just how intricate the life of a single human being could be- and even more, when she saw how fate changed when one was exposed to the sun. She smiled a bit that when she saw, most people were enjoying far healthier, and longer lives. Each generation was fated to enjoy a longer life provided they made the effort... it was as if the change induced a new level in existence.

She even found one string that was so old, she could not see quite where it ended. One belonging to a Tree? That was going to be an impressive life indeed.... and how many lives it would touch... how many... it stretched to near infinity.

Some fates worked as chess pieces, and cutting a thread would bring a board game to appear. She glanced at the set, curiously noting that each piece was not a single colour but of multiple colours. It was hard to tell a 'side' in this... though there was a distinction of some kind, it was hard to place. The angel was not very good at chess, but somehow she was able to understand the significance of each piece. There was a pawn, that she knew represented Lilly, and a Queen that must represent Jenny.

Looking at the game, Lucas could tell the game had entered a phase where the sensible thing would be to sacrifice the pawn. If that did not happen, the queen would die...and wores, the game 'implied' it could end. she couldn't move them with her hand, they were stuck. At a suddenly insight she tried her sword. Using the end of the blade, she found she could 'adjust' pieces. Move them in ways that were not completely 'allowed'. Lucas grinned a bit. This wasn't chess to her, it was poker. Each piece may have a rule, but she didn't have to follow the rule...

Yet by doing this, the game evolved in different ways. She couldn't pick up a piece, but only shimmy it to the next square. A game ending was not allowed... it seemed that the game had to go on... pieces returned, back to their position.

"Are you trying to tell me something?" She asked the air around her. Her gaze looked at the pawn... there had to be something... someway to just 'nudge' it in a direction. The angel stared at the piece of Lilly... a pawn... pawns were always sacrificed... unless... "Unless I can get her to the end of the board..." What would happen then though?

Lucas blinked as she heard a female voice speak to her. Your sword is as water... Lucas

The living doll that was Ellen sighed. She wondered where Anneza was. It was just her and the wolf-teen Will, who had quietly got to know each other better. The wolf of course, had to keep on pulling Ellen's string to speak to her. While it was annoying, Ellen learned to make use of the time she had in each moment.

"Did you used to be a man?" Asked Ellen quickly.

Will smiled a bit shyly. "I- don't really want to say. It doesn't matter. Will's a fairly... generic name. She could have been either a boy or a girl maybe. She pulled the string again on Ellen's back.

"Why not?"

"You- probably wouldn't understand. Besides I'm happy with this body- though I would have liked if I was older." Still at least she remembered all her trainings. That was odd, she thought. But then again, Will had always had impressive will-power. Perhaps her name gave her that. Either that, or her mind was just on the edge between adulthood and teenhood, that she was able to work with it. She had... lapses, but otherwise most were impressed she could live and work in the adult world. As a police officer no less- even if, she was given the easier assignments to be on the safe side. She blinked as she saw Ellen wanted to talk again. She pulled her string quickly.

"A guest is coming. Let's bake a cake!" Ellen blinked and fumed as the words came out. Sometimes that happened... she couldn't help it. A sentence would pop into her head and she would speak it as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Sorry Ellen. I was feeling hungry though," The wolf girl grinned. She took the doll to the kitchen.

Ellen wondered, if this really was random. The words she spoke were random, yet they did 'push' people into doing 'things'. It was something the doll noticed. It wasn't a 'power' exactly. More like an insight? She didn't know. Her transformation was a weird one, to say the least. At least she didn't feel discomfort, and could move quite normally. Her skin while unusually shiny, and not quite made to human proportions, which was unusual too. But at least she could move. It was just the damn string behind her back that needed to be pulled!

They heard the door open, though no footsteps. That could only mean Anneza had come back.

Will looked to the space girl. "I was going to make us some dinner. Hungry?"

Anneza glanced at the plates being laid out and gave a small nod. She signed her thanks, then looked to Ellen.

Need you she signed. The space girl was getting a lot better at this.

What do you need? signed the doll curiously.

Wish to talk to She paused. She glanced at her cards looking for the right one. Parents She signed. You help?
I help you The living doll smiled. When we go?

Anezza sighed. That was going to be a hard question indeed... when could- should she see her parents?

"You need to find a totem," Said Vertex.

"I have one," Said Morgan blankly. She gestured to her earrings. "They are made of two... that must work. mustn't it?"

The fairy looked at it. "Yeah... okay I guess that can work. But it's gonna change a bit. You okay with that?" Still... a totem is 'best' to work as one wasn't it? She wasn't sure she had ever heard of a totem being made of two pieces...

"Now- when are we going to learn real magic?"

Princess Vertex nodded. "Soon dear- just be patient a little longer." She had to see if these earnings would be suitable...

Muriel looked to the insect girl Melanie. She seemed to be looking at... a power socket? She looked at it with the strange intrigue one might look at a drawing or work of art. "That's dangerous sweety," She said. "Electricity comes out of that."

"Elec...Elec... tric..." For some reason Melanie seemed amused by that word. It was a funny word, now that Muriel thought about it.

"Come here dear, I need to have a word with you."

Melanie walked to her, on her strange insect legs. She wasn't sure why but she felt a little worried and scared.

"Your grandparents will have to help take care of you, dear."

"It... cause I tried to hurt Jenny?" Melanie asked. It wasn't said as anything malicious, it was stated as fact. Simple logical conclusion. She was someone that tried to harm Jenny, but even that thought was making her feel a little... queasy. This body acted in strange ways. Nothing was completely certain. Everything had a counter-position... how did humans function like this?

"You must not feel this way Melanie. You... had no choice. When given a choice, you made the right one... I hope you might some day understand that."

Choice... Melanie understood choice. The ripples of an action creating new patterns... yet now that she was part of that system, did she really want to get out of it? There were things here that felt... nice. If she was to go away now, she would lose those patterns! This... was not acceptable.

"I- I choose to stay with you." Melanie said qucikly.

"It isn't like that honey. I wont be going anywhere. Your grandparents will help you while I am at work... You may even like.."

"N-No- No.. No... want... stay. M-m-um..." It was just a word... why did it come out like that? Suddenly Muriel wrapped her arms around the raven haired girl. The adult-woman seemed deeply affected by that word. Why was Melanie feeling.... strange?
