Andy went through the various isles of clothing.
Shopping for clothes always seemed a chore to her before. However, she now realised there were corners to the store she had never even considered or seen before. Almost all stores she visited, she realised, catered predominantly to female shoppers. It was a bit strange, given that when the world was half male and half female, a shop would have more then two thirds of its stock as female clothes. She wondered if that ratio would change? Still everything seemed the same as before...
Maybe females were just more fussy with what they wore? Andy had no idea. She glanced vaguely to the male side, that took up one very small corner of the store... a little uncertain in what she thought.
Sue clung to her arm, helping her out. "Let's get you measured."
"Can't we just try out some different clothes? If they don't work I'll just return them."
"There is an art to this honey... trust me. If we don't get proper measurements, we could be here all day."
Andy conceded to her husband's experience. She went to a fitting room and the measuring tape was put across her body. The saleslady then wrote a few numbers down... interestingly, she seemed to have the lower body of a giant ant. Still she didn't look that intimidating... it was a very surreal look.
"Well... we should have no trouble finding clothes for you."
"Oh that's good," Said Andy. The saleslady seemed a little too intrigued by the numbers though.
"Here are your measurements. You seem to have the standard human base chart," She said taking a few laminated sheet.
Andy whistled. They now had charts for different species? And she was considered standard human? She was a freaking rabbit girl! "What about my um.. tail," She said softly.
"Minor cosmetic changes. We can fix that easily if you want."
Sue nodded. "We have a very important job interview for her, we want her to be perfect."
"Oh? How exciting," smiled the saleslady. "I'll find something very nice for you. Fortunately, someone so perfectly proportioned will fit into any of our clothes."
"Perfectly... proportioned?" Asked Andy. What the hell did that mean?
"It means your ratio's fit the standard sizes perfectly. You could probably model these clothes if you wanted to."
Andy's jaw fell. Why did that always come up? "I... don't think I can do that," She said in the end.
The saleslady nodded noting the discomfort and looked apologetic. She had not meant her words to have that affect... she decided to concentrate on finding a few options for her. "Please just stay right here.. I'll find something for you."
Keith walked out... still a little groggy. There had to be some where to have a bit of fun... ah. Every town had one. And he found it. The brothel. Given the dreams he had been having, he seriously needed some affirmation that things would get back to normal now.
He entered in, paying the four dollar fee... to see what passed as 'entertainment' in this two bit town.
It was a darkened room, with just a few flickers of light... he saw the girls shaking their moneymakers, and it certainly made him chuckle. if only his chest would stop itching... he drank his whisky. He had always been a hard man with the bottle... but... he was getting sleepy. He had only drunk half of it, why was it making him tired?
He tried to watch the girls, given he had paid for the show, but he was slowly nodding off...
Three months....
Kei had spent three months now, with her mate. Their nest was done, and she was approaching the point now where she would be unable to store up available food. That would be when her mate would bring it to her instead. Though she thought she would miss flying around, now that she had mastered it.
She had got to know many of the fairies in her time here. Each of them intrigued her. Though sadly many of them were busy preparing their own nests for the new season, they were all very likeable people. Some said she looked familiar, from a place and time they had to abandon long ago...
She had slowly put the pieces together from this. Apparently, there were many different kinds of fairies, but often it was the environment that made them what they were. Creatures of magic, born of thought. They could access worlds that thought of fairies. Kei listened to stories of a being they called 'human'.
Kei remembered being human... but she never said that to the others. Humans were regarded with a sense of awe. They could think the same way as these fairies could, indeed they had a knowledge that surpassed them in many ways. But then one day, the door was shut... and they had to leave. If they did not, a calamity would have struck the world... but they were promised they may return someday.
Kei felt saddened by that... all fairies did. They wanted to see the strange humans again. They filled their society with new concepts and ideas... thoughts that inspired magic.
She looked down at the bulge of her belly. This still felt.. strange. But it had been a long time now. She accepted this life.. this reality.
"How are you my love?" Asked Farin.
"Warm... content..." Said Kei kissing him. "I have not had a nightmare in a long time..." Was Keith really just gone now forever? She was starting to hope so. Maybe he died... departed his mortal coil, and Kei was still alive...
"I am glad. You are too beautiful for nightmares" Farin said smiling placing a hand on the swelling of his love's stomach. "The first of many."
"H-How many?" Asked Kei her heart skipping a beat.
"As many as we can," Farin said smiling.
Kei giggled... A perfect union... she was so happy. This strange place, this strange world... her love... everything was perfect. She wondered how soon before she would feel the child kick...
The man looked around wondering where he was. He looked very confused... wait.. yes.. he was Keith!
"ARGH!" He roared. Three months.. oh God! He... he was gone for three months?! But... he was back here, and it was like no time at all had gone. And now... he was... what happened?
... he was missing being Kei. The feeling quickly passed though, in a fit of disgust and anger. But it did not subside. He had been Kei for three whole months... the foraging still needed to be completed, the-
"you passed out," Said one of the dancing girls. I brought you to a hotel."
Keith looked at the woman... "... Thanks," He said grimly.
"You going to be okay?"
Keith panted... he was in a panic. He... he had to do something. Three months of being a woman living some weird life, and to suddenly come back here? "Look... I do need something... something only a lady can give me," he said trying to sound at least half way manly- though his voice was high pitched
The woman chuckled. "it's going to cost you more then four dollars..."
Keith didn't have much money left... but he did have one of those special coins... "This is worth more then you'll ever see again... sleep with me, and it's yours."
The woman arched an eyebrow.
