Hawkins was about ready to pull the trigger of his gun when he heard the girls plea. Stop it without killing it? Easier said then done!
They had to do something. That bug-creature was about to eat a little girl. The shadowy agent quickly jumped into the fray, grabbing hold of the monster, getting between the bug and the girl.
An instinct had come over Cecilia, and she grabbed one of the growing crystals as if it were a branch and charged at the bug monster, hitting it sharply on what might be its leg.
The sudden charge had surprised Hawkins. He had never seen the gynoid do anything like that...
The alien creature seemed to be overwhelmed by the attack of two agents, and fell on the ground.
"WE need to restrain it!" said Hawkins. They didn't have anything on them to tie it with... fortunately the raptor-girl Mike seemed very adept at this, and her strength held the creature tightly.
Riley turned glad that the monster was now restrained. It seemed unconscious, but the magic girl somehow knew it was aware. Just like she knew it was intelligent...
"I am agent Hawkins... who are you?" He asked the magic girl.
"We- I am Riley," She said.
"Shes a magic girl," Said Cecellia curiously. Seeing a child in danger, she just knew she had to help."Are you okay sweety?"
"Yes... I was trying to bring Hedgeton back to Earth..."
"You- can do that?" Asked Hawkins surprised.
"Yes.. kind of. We are actually back on earth now. Mostly."
"Mostly?"
Cecelila started to do a few scans. "She is right.. I am receiving signals. Though there is interference. Its as if we were.. far away."
"How can that be? Are we on Earth or not?" Hawkins didn't know what to think of this situation. He looked up in the sky, and could see the ghostly silhouette of three moons, though he was very relieved to see Earth's moon strong and beautiful, hanging in the sky.
"We're in both places," Riley explained. "But I tried to make Earth more dominant..." It was not as easy as Riley thought. Reality sometimes refused to bend in some places. The membrane across the town in particular, was very delicate. If one left this town, there was a very small chance they could end up on the alien surface. She was slowly getting more information on the other world.. filtering out earth through her visor.
"What was that other planet?" Asked Cecellia.
"Earth as well... I am scanning it. Life is not like ours there. There is no vegetation... humans could not survive there. Yet the sun changes one into humans..."
Hawkins sighed. A cure... yet the price was to exist in a barren landscape, with possible hostile life. He glanced at the bug creature.
Cecellia thought about this. "But there is another possibility. What if one went to this world, became human, and then returned?"
Riley shook her head. "We are on that world.. and we are on Earth. At least within this town. We're going to be exposed to both suns at once. I don't know what that will do."
Suddenly there was a scream from across the street.
"NooO! I was human.. I was human!" She seemed to be a strange teenage.. skunk.. girl?
Hawkins stared dumbfounded. He recognised that skunk-girl's clothes as being that Eric person from before. He was so happy to have returned to his former life.. but it was only for mere hours it seemed. "But- the sun hasn't come up yet!" Why were people transforming back?
"We are on Earth... AND that other world. But Earth is dominant... you are what you are on Earth" Riley said softly, feeling terribly sorry for the skunk-girl. "Unless you plan on living on a barren landscape... I'm really sorry."
Jon received the call from Karyn at this point. The slug girl was expecting it.
"Jon.. have you been watching the news?"
"Yes."
"Did you use the stone?!" She just about screamed it.
"I swear I didn't! Something else is going on." Jon was very quick to say it.
"Okay... are you sure you still have the stone? Someone else isn't using it are they?"
Jon had not thought of that.. she quickly went to the drawer to look at it in mid panic. She felt a sense of relief seeing it. "Yes.. its still here..." The stone gave a soft glow suddenly, as if responding to.. something. "Weird..."
"What's wrong?"
"The stone.. glowed. It's not glowing any more though."
Karyn paused. "That's not all.. the town's back." she said watching the television.
Haru stared in shock at the television. She could 'see' someone pulling reality, like a plaything. It terrified the three eyed girl. She looked to her parents.
"D-Dont you see it?!" She said her three eyes wide with terror.
"I know dear..." said her mother. "How did the town come back?"
"B-But.. don't you see it? The- the swirling things." she said. Was this just a hallucination? Was she really going mad?
"Calm down honey..." said her mother. "What ever is happening, it is some distance away." She tried to assure her.
Haru continued to stare.. she could see it. Swirls of energy, and it was like a hand was pushing things together. For some reason, she could 'see' the number One...despite not seeing any numbers at all. That made no sense! Why was she seeing one on the television? She closed her eyes, unable to watch the television any more. Such a serious breach of reality, overlaying with so many symbols was almost tearing her apart.
She ran to her room, shivering in freight, turning out the lights.
