Will pedalled her police bike back to the station, a little careful not to get her tail caught in the wheel like last time... that really hurt. She chained it up and got the rest of her gear.
The young wolf girl was used to the looks by her colleagues by now. It was somewhere between being the stations mascot, to the affectionate 'pet'. She had worked with these people though a long time, and didn't actually hold a grudge against them for it. She gave as good as she got. They were her trusted colleagues besides all the banter they did. A lot of them said she hit the gold mine, all she had to do was stay at a desk and get the full pay she used to...
Still, she did wish she could go back to some real police work. At least she hadn't been turned into a fairy. She heard someone in the south side had that issue. That police officer actually retired...
That wasn't really an option for Will. There were still a few more years of service to get a retirement package. They couldn't actually 'fire' her... and since there was nothing medically wrong with her, they couldn't discharge her. Police always thought there was a law for every situation, but nothing really covered this situation.
She entered the Sargent's office.
"Good job Will, I knew you were the right person." The bear like form said appreciatively.
"A pleasure sir," she said politely putting the radio down. "I'll type up a report for you."
The sergeant nodded. "Were you able to get anything out of her?"
"To be honest sir... the language barrier presents a huge problem. she saw my uniform and just freaked. I decided to be friendly to her. It calmed her down some. After it was settled I walked off."
"That would indicate she had something to hide, perhaps?" the sergeant asked curiously.
"Maybe. Or she's just stressed out. I got the report she had only changed about 24 hours ago."
The bear sergeant nodded. There was a bit of a dilemma between police instinct and the more human instinct... was something going on, or was she just freaked out of her mind? both were plausible, but if they got it wrong they could push an innocent person to breaking point, or a guilty person to commuting an offence. "What do you believe of it Will... you watched her the most. Any instincts?"
Will closed her eyes, still picturing that look of anguish on the space-girl, and the fright on seeing her. Well not her. More just the uniform... The little wolf girl didn't look that threatening without it. Though she certainly wished she did. Their sergeants' presence once got a gang to completely surrender without any force. He just a roared... What was she going to do? Nip at their ankles?
"Will?" the sergeant repeated.
Urgh.. she was getting side tracked again... "Sorry sir... um.... my gut tells me she's afraid of no one thing. I couldn't smell anyone other then herself- and former self in that house... though there was one tiny scent- a rare visitor. It speaks to me of a very isolated life."
"Bottom line. Do you think Anderson presents a danger to the community? Should she be sectioned?"
The wolf girl swallowed. "I... don't know sir. She's not acting rationally, that much is true. But it has been just the first day of what seems to be a very distressing transformation- not to mention she probably had severe issues before hand."
"There does not seem to be any evidence of that..." the sergeant said curiously.
"People who climb that high that quickly tend to have issues bordering on a sense of godhood and control... now she has none." The wolf-girl replied sadly.
"That's a bit of a shot in the dark isn't it?" Asked the sergeant.
The wolf girl shrugged. "You asked for my instinct sarge, that's how I feel about it. If we bring her in, it might cause far more harm then good. She's already isolated from everyone... and what would we say to her? She can't understand us..." It might be torture for that poor girl not to have a word of comfort, but how horrible it must be for someone trying to give such words and not being able to? When the wolf girl confronted her...
The bear sergeant gave a nod in thought. "Let's give her some space for a while... I don't want her flying off again like that from us..."
The wolf girl nodded. "Now... have I earned my piece back yet?" She asked laughing a little.
The sergeant gave a little chuckle. "Just give it a few more years. Your already doing solid police work at what.. twelve?"
"I think I'm closer to thirteen," the wolf girl said indignantly.
"Hard to tell... though if I need someone undercover at those schools, I'll know who to ask. Dismissed."
"Sir," The wolf girl nodded to type up the report.
Anneza looked at that old picture...
She stared at it for a long time, just looking at that young man with her green eyes. He looked like he was going to go far... and he did. She looked down on the ground, and wondered if her transformation was some metaphor... was someone out there trying to tell her something? Or was this completely random?
Was her head in the clouds always back then? It's true she tried to aim high...but is that something she should be punished for? Her feet were off the ground forever now... well, almost... she pushed herself a little lower, finding herself standing on tip toes on the carpet. While she could push herself a little lower, an act of 'walking' tended to push her back upwards.
The police were still around... she saw one of the transformed cops in uniform. All the transformed people scared her. She was not 'one of them'...
She dusted the photo, placing it on her desk. If anything, it would at least give her some company.
She started the slow task of cleaning up the rest of her house, upset but.. coping. She could get through this.. If she was to be alone forever, that's fine. She was already alone anyway. What did it matter if she couldn't talk to people? Maybe she didn't want to talk to them either.
She took out a book, writing her thoughts into it. Having familiar lettering just felt... comforting.
Hello... I don't know if anyone will ever read these words, other then myself. I don't have anyone to talk to, other then me and the clouds.
She glanced around pausing as she scribbled a few more words.
I confess. I hired a man to push Toby into the sunlight, cursing him to become... what she is now. I'm sorry...
She wiped away her tears.
I don't know why I did it... There was so much pressure. I'm scared of this transformed world. At the time when Toby talked to me like that on the phone... I just snapped. My lawyer got me out of it... I had succeeded again. Now as I float down the streets, I'm laughed at... mocked at. Or worse, whistled at. I have no dignity in my life, and thought... my life should end.
She looked out the window, thinking shakily as she wrote in her language. The rain continued... it looked like a thunderstorm was coming.
I thought I would burn as I flew high... but instead, I saw the stars... I can not describe what I saw in those lights, and heard in the music. The stars chimed to me, black holes were as drum beats... planets, I heard as well. But I can never tell anyone... any of these things.
She sighed. She wondered, what would Earth itself sound like? Could she open her senses as she was in space, to hearing the living planet? She put away her journal, feeling a little happier to get her thoughts together.
She allowed herself a little rest.
Ken was surprised by how... cute Haru looked.
They had taken the bus to see the movies, and a few people gave them odd stares. Though ken suspected it was more to him, being a fox then to Haru. Or maybe because he was with her? Some people didn't like the animalistic transformees mixing with the more human type ones... and Haru was the more human type- despite her extra eye. Not that Ken didn't have his own human aspects...
It was all part of that culture that said humans were sacred in some way, different from animals. Though the line had blurred an awful lot under the new sun.
"Um... you look really nice," Ken said with a shy smile.
Haru gave a little smile back. "Um... thanks. So do you," She said quietly.
Haru wondered if she should have insisted against the dress... but when she put it on, it didn't feel that uncomfortable. Actually... what really scared her now, is that she was thinking of herself as Haru. Was this because of the dress? Well she had to be called 'something!' She wasn't pretending anything had happened... she wasn't hiding...
She was Haru... at this moment. That's all... right?
"Two tickets to see Revenge of the Sun," he smiled.
Haru realised Ken just paid for her ticket... should she stop him? "Er... I'll pay," she said quickly reaching into her pocket- realising the dress didn't actually have pockets! Where did she put her things? Oh right in the jacket.. she really wasn't used to these clothes.
"Ah don't worry. I told you this is my treat." Ken smiled.
Haru nodded. "Well... okay. So what's this movie supposed to be like?"
"Mixed. People say it's so bad it's good, others say its just plain bad. Its a rushed movie about the sun changing black and causing everyone to change... everyone becomes monsters... I don't know what happens at the end though. I didn't want to spoil it."
"Sounds awfully familiar," Haru gave a little giggle- then stopped realising she was giggling. Yikes... was it the dress doing this? No way...
"Well, it was made mostly by humans in make up... there's not many genuine transformees. Apparently a lot of them were offended by it... call me curious, I want to see just how bad it is."
Haru could understand that. She had heard similar things. Terrible clichés, horrible acting, yet somehow the whole thing worked for some... it could almost be considered a parody of real life? Ah well, they'll be watching it soon. She was surprised by how many humans were in the cinema too...
Tetra noded. "Good Jenny!"
Jenny was in the garden, she had just transformed herself into her magic girl mode.
Tetra appraised her carefully, then licked her paws. "Now, you have to summon your weapon... go ahead, just raise your hand like this, and concentrate on your number. It should come very naturally to you. Just don't fight it..."
Jenny looked a little worried. "Um... like this?" The girl was determined. She was afraid... and she had a really weird dream before... but she had to be ready to fight whatever happened. She raised her arm to start the summoning of her own magic weapon. A short burst of lightning was heard somewhere, and the rumble of thunder...
Adora huffed annoyed... she had completely lost David. There was no way to keep up with a flying person, and to make matters worse she was completely lost now! She thought she went in a mostly straight direction, had taken a few bus routes, then ran again in the general direction she saw david go...
but in the end, the search was fruitless...
So now here she was, in the dark... a mostly naked devil girl... lost. She wasn't sure if to keep on looking for David, or to give up and go back home. She reluctantly decided that there was not much more to go on and turned to go back. She hoped the angel girl was okay... even if David didn't like her.
Someehow, she had ended up in a graveyard... tombstones littered the place...
The devil girl continued to walk though them. If she could make it back to the bus stop, she could go back home.
"This is all YOUR fault!" Mr Thompson shouted at his wife. "You stupid woman! You have killed our family. Turned my son into...THAT! " He felt sick...
"N-No..." Mrs Thompson tried to say, but it was no use. "Alex-"
"Now look at them. Freaks.. Why don't you go out in that cursed light and join them? You can all be one happy family and leave me out of it."
"They're still your children... they are still mine..."
"Oh yeah? Then where are they? Hmm?" he kicked one of the room doors. "They abandoned us... they left you. Their minds aren't working like ours any more. Don't you get it? They are NOT our children! Stop talking as if nothing happened to them!"
Mrs Thompson trembled slightly. "W-why don't you calm down... We'll talk about this-"
"Shut up!"
The sting of insults continued as Mrs Thompson tried everything to calm her husband down.
David flew high, feeling the tingle of electricity on her wing... this was so dangerous! But she knew there was somewhere she had to be... she could sense the same urgency in her sisters. Each of them were flying in different directions. A picture emerged in her mind... they were forming a six pointed star! across the entire town!
Each of her sisters were taking a point encompassing the edge of the suburbs. The rain above them continued...
what force was making them do this? Why were they doing this?
She didn't sense anything malicious... indeed, whatever they were doing felt urgent. If they didn't do this... something bad was going to happen. But to who? They didn't have magic powers... besides the whole sharing of their senses between them.
The urgency of the task reminded her to keep going. She flew a little faster, until she came upon a raised hill...
That's where she had to stand...
